Biloxi Press Release --

RAIN AND WET GROUNDS POSTPONE SHUCKERS AND BAYBEARS FOR THIRD STRAIGHT DAY

MOBILE, AL – For the third consecutive day, the Biloxi Shuckers and Mobile BayBears have been postponed due to rain and unsafe field conditions at Hank Aaron Stadium in Mobile. A doubleheader has been scheduled for Saturday evening beginning at 6:05 pm at Hank Aaron Stadium. The twin bill will feature a pair of seven-inning games, with game two starting approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of game one.

2 hitters into the game, Carolina goes to rain delay. Hopefully short so Ponce can continue.

Mudcats and Nationals suspended Friday night

Tonight's game was suspended due to heavy rain in Zebulon

Read the press release linked above to learn about the makeup schedule, and read my 2nd angry tweet of the night, this one bemoaning that Ponce's start was foolishly begun at all.

Good grief, is Biloxi ever going to get to play another game?

I've spend the whole week feeling this. I've been in Florida, since Last Friday, in Brevard County, of all places, and it has poured for 9 consecutive days. I'm so glad the Brewers got out of here, even if I could have gotten to see them play last week (just kidding! they'd have washed out every game!)

Final: Memphis 1, Colorado Springs 0

Sox Drop Pitcher's Duel

Ventura holds potent Memphis offense to four hits in seven quality innings

By Robby Veronesi / Colorado Springs Sky Sox

The link above will tell you who extended their hitting streak to six...

From the summary:

Angel Ventura threw seven quality innings, but the Memphis Redbirds took three of four in a 1-0 victory over the Colorado Springs Sky Sox Friday night in front of 5,590 at AutoZone Park.

Making his second start of his Triple-A career, Ventura (1-1, 2.08) took the tough loss, but shut down a potent Memphis offense by holding the Redbirds to four hits and one earned run while striking out four in seven quality innings. The righty from Santo Domingo allowed three hits the first time through the Memphis lineup, but responded by retiring 16 of the final 17 battters faced.

Colorado Springs Box Score

Only four baserunners for the Sox. The Cardinals' John Gant, 24, seems primed for a better-go-round in their rotation than in 2016, his first stint wasn't awful...

Cougars Use Two-Out Runs to Beat Wisconsin

Kane County tops Timber Rattlers

By Chris Mehring / Wisconsin Timber Rattlers

Despite the Rattlers' recent struggles, and they are severe, Chris's work remains excellent, and his detailed summaries always keep us informed even in tough times, do take a read.

Wisconsin Box Score

Would have been nice if the Rattlers could have better played the role of spoiler here; will be interesting to see if there is an infusion of talent via the draft or from players who have been at extended spring as of next week...
