Blake Allemand is hitting .342 over the last 30 days. Switch hitter, plays 2B and OF.

Another day, another game where Carolina's bats are dead. Erceg and Diaz now at about .225 BA and the OPS is not pretty either.

Ditto Ray and Clark. Serious buzz kill on the season. I was so excited to see the Carolina lineup all year.

Cordell certainly rakes at Colorado Springs to the tune of 1.046 OPS. .732 OPS on the road though. Compare that to a guy like Garrett Cooper who goes 1.058 at home and .919 on the road.
but it's not like every guy suddenly forgot every piece of advice he gave

Mudcats fall 6-1 in series finale in Myrtle Beach

Troy Stokes Jr. hit his ninth homer of the season in the loss

By Gregory Young / Carolina Mudcats | June 11, 2017 10:20 PM ET

Troy Stokes Jr. playing for the 2017 Carolina Mudcats at Five County Stadium. (NIKOLAUS - Carolina Mudcats)

In the top of the 6th, with 2 men on and 2 out, Troy Stokes Jr. (1-5, HR) made a bid for his second home run of the game and it curved just foul. That would have tied the game. Instead, he popped out later in the at bat and the Mudcats were on their way to another loss. Trey Supak (5 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 2 BB, 5 K) took the loss. He served up a home run derby fast ball to Eloy Jimenez, probably the Pelicans' only legitimate hitting prospect, in the first inning for a 2 run home run that basically put the game out of reach the way the Mudcats have hit in this series. Brad Kuntz and Scott Grist finished the game.

In addition to Troy Stokes' home run, Weston Wilson was 2-4 and Jake Gatewood was 1-3 with a walk. Lucas Erceg was 0-4 with 3 strike outs and also dropped a popup in foul territory. He threw his bat after one of the K's. They now play 3 games on the road at the Salem Red Sox, who have been the top team in the Carolina league.

Kane County's Ninth Inning Rally Keeps Rattlers from Victory

Wisconsin Boxscore

A few days ago when I mentioned that after I stopped watching the game, I fully assumed that later I would check in and see that Wisconsin had given up the lead late. I was right, just a few days early. Last I looked at this one, Wisconsin had a 4-1 lead going into the ninth. Oops.

Victor Diaz and Miguel Sanchez were the guilty parties today. I believe I used the term "hot mess" to describe Diaz' mechanics earlier this year, and not too much seems to have been ironed out. Diaz began the ninth allowing two singles and double. Sanchez allowed a single right away, but then retired the next batter on a fly ball. The Cougars nearly made the second out on the next batter, but Sanchez threw the ball off target on a force attempt at second. A walk, single, and sac fly later, and five runs were on the board.

All of this erased a very solid outing from starter Zack Brown. He went six innings for just the second time in his career, allowing a run on six hits and a walk, while striking out four.

On the offensive side, Monte Harrison launched his 10th home run of the year. He had 12 career home runs coming into the season. Monte is quietly sporting an 829 OPS, also having walked 27 times. He's having a good year at the plate.

Tucker Neuhaus and Demi Orimoloye each had two hits, and one of Demi's was a double.

Wisconsin Game Log

The Rattlers took the lead here:

Wisconsin Bottom of the 7th

Defensive switch from third base to first base for Ramon Hernandez.

Defensive Substitution: Adam Walton replaces first baseman Alexis Olmeda, batting 8th, playing third base.

Trey York singles on a line drive to right fielder Luis Silverio.

Ryan Aguilar hit by pitch. Trey York to 2nd.

Nathan Rodriguez ground bunts into a force out, pitcher Sam McWilliams to third baseman Adam Walton. Trey York out at 3rd. Ryan Aguilar to 2nd. Nathan Rodriguez to 1st.

Trever Morrison doubles (4) on a line drive to center fielder Marcus Wilson. Ryan Aguilar scores. Nathan Rodriguez to 3rd.

Pitching Change: Ryan Burr replaces Sam McWilliams.

With Demi Orimoloye batting, passed ball by Jose Herrera, Nathan Rodriguez scores. Trever Morrison to 3rd.

Demi Orimoloye doubles (13) on a ground ball to left fielder Anfernee Grier. Trever Morrison scores.

Joantgel Segovia out on a sacrifice bunt, third baseman Adam Walton to first baseman Ramon Hernandez. Demi Orimoloye to 3rd.

Monte Harrison walks.

With Tucker Neuhaus batting, Monte Harrison steals (11) 2nd base.

Tucker Neuhaus grounds out, second baseman Fernery Ozuna to first baseman Ramon Hernandez.

And then lost it here:

Kane County Top of the 9th

Jose Herrera singles on a ground ball to right fielder Demi Orimoloye.

Manny Jefferson singles on a ground ball to shortstop Trever Morrison. Jose Herrera to 2nd.

Offensive Substitution: Pinch-runner Luis Alejandro Basabe replaces Jose Herrera.

Adam Walton doubles (3) on a line drive to left fielder Joantgel Segovia. Luis Alejandro Basabe scores. Manny Jefferson to 3rd.

Pitching Change: Miguel Sanchez replaces Victor Diaz.

Fernery Ozuna singles on a line drive to left fielder Joantgel Segovia. Manny Jefferson scores. Adam Walton to 3rd.

Luis Silverio flies out to right fielder Demi Orimoloye.

Anfernee Grier reaches on a force attempt, throwing error by pitcher Miguel Sanchez. Adam Walton scores. Fernery Ozuna to 3rd.

Marcus Wilson walks. Anfernee Grier to 2nd.

Mark Karaviotis singles on a line drive to right fielder Demi Orimoloye. Fernery Ozuna scores. Anfernee Grier to 3rd. Marcus Wilson to 2nd.

Ramon Hernandez out on a sacrifice fly to left fielder Joantgel Segovia. Anfernee Grier scores.

Luis Alejandro Basabe flies out to left fielder Joantgel Segovia.

Home Run Derby Fuels Sky Sox Sweep

Colorado Springs win four in a row against Iowa with 8-3 win

Colorado Springs Boxscore

"The Leftovers" edition of the Sky Sox' outfield continued to mash on Sunday. Ryan Cordell picked up his 10th home run on his 7th hit in two days. His average had dipped to .277 as of 4 days ago - it's back up to .294. Getting to the point of the season where that's not as easy as it sounds. Kirk Nieuwenhuis did Cordell one better by hitting his second and third home runs of the season.

And as could only happen in Colorado Springs, side note: Garrett Cooper *also* hit two home runs. Ho-hum. Cooper incidentally is still hitting closer to .400 than .300. It is entirely baffling to me that he has seen zero time in the outfield this year, even just an inning here or there. You'd think that if the Brewers were believers in his bat, they'd be finding more ways to get him to Milwaukee. Also incidentally, Cooper's single season career high in home runs was 9, which happened last year. It took him about twice as many PAs to get 9 home runs last year as it has for him to get 10 home runs this year.

Ivan De Jesus knocked two doubles, and Nate Orf hit one as well. Orf was hitting .205 at the end of April, and is now hitting .333. You can do the math on that.

Brent Suter started the game and lasted 1 2/3 innings. He was pulled at exactly 30 pitches, so it's possible that this was his "side session" in a prelude to starting one of the double header games on Tuesday against the Cardinals. Or maybe it was an injury. Let's hope for the former. A cadre of Sky Sox bullpen members finished out the game. Among them, Wei-Chung Wang lowered his ERA to 1.78 with 1 1/3 flawless innings pitched, save an error made by De Jesus.

Colorado Springs Game Log

Home runs:

Col. Springs Bottom of the 2nd

Garrett Cooper homers (9) on a fly ball to center field.

Ivan De Jesus Jr. grounds out, pitcher Aaron Brooks to first baseman Victor Caratini.

Kirk Nieuwenhuis homers (2) on a fly ball to right center field.

Andrew Susac called out on strikes.

Yadiel Rivera grounds out, pitcher Aaron Brooks to first baseman Victor Caratini.

More home runs:

Col. Springs Bottom of the 6th

Nate Orf doubles (8) on a fly ball to left fielder Mark Zagunis.

Ryan Cordell homers (10) on a fly ball to center field. Nate Orf scores.

Garrett Cooper flies out to left fielder Mark Zagunis.

Ivan De Jesus Jr. doubles (10) on a fly ball to left fielder Mark Zagunis.

Kirk Nieuwenhuis homers (3) on a fly ball to center field. Ivan De Jesus Jr. scores.

Andrew Susac pops out to second baseman Stephen Bruno.

Yadiel Rivera strikes out swinging.

I apologize if this has already been discussed on here in another thread, but where is Taylor Williams? Did he have a set back, or why hasn't he pitched in what seems like a couple of weeks now?

Last pitched on 5/25, so coming up on three weeks, with no explanation from the organization. Frustrating.

Biloxi has played one man short all this time as Williams was never placed on anything but the active list.
