Has to be the case. They were kind of log jammed in the minors this year trying to find spots for everyone, maybe they don't want too many knew faces on these short season teams.

Last year the Brewers drafted 9 high school players in their entire draft. Not even half way through this year's draft and they have taken 12 high schoolers including 8 in a row. I know Tod Johnson mentioned having a strategy this year that he thought would give them an advantage, curious if we are seeing that play out here with all of the prep selections.

Do a high percentage of high school players selected in rounds 11 - 18 sign with the MLB team? Always thought high school players selected after round 10 were less likely to sign.

Huge huge huge fan of what they're doing on Day 3. Offer 100k to each of these guys and see if they sign. Once they have everyone in the top 10 rounds signed up, can see if they are still underslot at all, then can offer any of these guys more than 100k if that's what it takes. If they feel comfortable with the current crop of "filler" players in the minors, then why not go upside with these picks? There are always UDFA's to sign to fill out any slots in Arizona or Helena if needed.

Make that nine for nine, and it's a really good one in shortstop Noah Campbell.

Noah Campbell (NC) can really hit and run. Think he might wind up in CF. South Carolina recruit. #Brewers #mlbdraft

They did this last year to a much smaller degree and ended up signing the large majority of them.

Last year they drafted 6 high school players in rounds 11-40, and signed 4 of them.

Yeah, I was thinking Payton Henry and Francisco Thomas were drafted later than they actually were.

According to MLB.com they can offer up to $125,000 to players taken after the 10th round without it counting against the bonus pool. Anything beyond $125K will go against the overall bonus pool as you mentioned.

Thanks for the update! It must have been updated this year, because I swear it was $100,000 last year. That certainly helps entice some of these guys, hopefully.

Can they offer $125,000 for guys after the tenth round and pay for future college education if the player goes back to school if things do not work out? Or does future education have to be included in the $125,000?

College tuition is not included in the $125k. It'd be the money plus paying for college.
