Villar leading off, no Phillips. Perhaps both these things are related to Blach being a lefty, but playing Villar over Sogard shouldn't have to mean we have to use Villar in the leadoff spot. He really needs to prove he can hit again before being put back into the leadoff spot.

Yeah I agree. Still got to work him in to try to get him going but it doesn't make much sense to have the guy who gets on base the least at the top. I know we're not brimming with great leadoff options vs. LHP but Villar doesn't belong there again until he can earn it back.

Maybe it's Counsells way of saying hey, I'm behind you, it's go time. Now or never for you this season time. Might be trying to jump start his season a bit.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

The players mostly know what the correct call is. If there is a dispute, let the cameras/computers decide the call and have 1 crew chief around for rule interpretation.

Its like the team made a concentrated effort to get the run in from third with less than 2 outs so much, that all 3 outs were basically the same sac fly even though the first one got the job done.

Nice inning from nelson. Hes been battling but might still be able to salvage a quality start.

Remember what Yoda said:

"Cubs lead to Cardinals. Cardinals lead to dislike. Dislike leads to hate. Hate leads to constipation."

Man, I know Pence looks awkward with just about everything he does, but is his arm hurt or something? The way he throws the ball back into the infield is so strange looking, almost like he's pushing it from his shoulder or something.

But who cares, go Crew! Nice stroke down the line for Aguilar!

Props to Jesus Aguilar for not being a spring training wonder. Nothing like having a productive guy like him to help out when there are injuries.

It's a luxury having a bench with guys putting up the kinds of numbers that our bench guys are. Aside from Franklin everyone is putting up starter like offensive numbers. You really can't complain about what anybody is doing off of the bench
