AUDIO via Matt Pauley's Brewers Extra Innings Podcast Sun. 6/4: "A week that features two of the toughest losses of the season comes to a close with the Brewers bouncing back with a win. The win does not cover up the adversity that the team faced during the Dodgers series. Matt looks back at the week and discusses what needs to happen for the Brewers to take another step forward. Travis Sarandos joins the discussion. Voice of the Biloxi Shuckers, Chris Harris, joins Matt to give an inside look on the Brewers' Double-A team."

Do enjoy the entire podcast, but for the focus of this particular forum, the Chris Harris interview kicks off at the 22:30 minute mark.

A couple of story lines going for Carolina:

Dane Dunning going for Winston-Salem tonight. Last time he faced Carolina, he threw a pitch over Lucas Erceg's head after Erceg hit a home run off him. Dunning claimed Erceg watched the home run or something. Doesn't help that the Mudcats are 7-1 against them. Carlos Rodon will start against the Mudcats Tuesday on a rehab start.

The Brewers co-op team scored seven runs in the bottom of the eighth inning as they went on to route the Astros 11-1 on Monday. The Mets plated four runs in the bottom half of the first inning and never trailed as they topped the Brewers 6-4. Derby, Shuckers fall short in pitchers' duel to Braves

Bubba Derby took a no-hitter in the seventh on Monday night

By Biloxi Shuckers

Derby_thumb2_qa83y1i7_nxab1e7t.jpg

Bubba Derby took a no-hitter 6.2 innings on Monday night (BENTON REED)

Biloxi Shuckers Box Score

Quick Summary:

It was a marvelous day on the mound for Bubba Derby who took a no-hitter into the seventh inning. Unfortunately with two outs things fell apart and after giving up a run was saddled with the loss. If that doesn't explain the night for the offense enough they only mustered 2 runs in the 9th in the 2-4 loss.

Pitching Summary:

On the mound, Bubba Derby (6.2 IP, 3 H, ER, 9 K) started the game while Tayler Scott (0.1, BB, K) and Josh Uhen (1.0, 3 ER, 2 H, BB, K) provided relief.

Hitting Summary:

Blake Allemand (2-4, R)

Dustin DeMuth (1-4, 2B, 2 RBI)

Biloxi Shuckers Game Log

Mississippi Bottom of the 7th

Ronald Acuna pops out to second baseman Wendell Rijo.

Travis Demeritte strikes out swinging.

Joey Meneses singles on a ground ball to center fielder Johnny Davis. *Derby gives up first hit of game*

Levi Hyams singles on a line drive to right fielder Clint Coulter. Joey Meneses to 3rd.

Pitching Change: Tayler Scott replaces Bubba Derby, batting 9th.

Connor Lien singles on a ground ball to left fielder Blake Allemand. Joey Meneses scores. Levi Hyams to 2nd.

Dylan Moore walks. Levi Hyams to 3rd. Connor Lien to 2nd.

Kade Scivicque strikes out swinging.

OF NOTE:

Blake Allemand has been on fire recently. The 5-10 middle infielder drafted out of Texas A&M in the 5th round now boosts a .287 average. His home/road splits are pretty extreme, but maybe an under the radar guy to keep an eye one. Could be an eventual utility guy.

Tough night, as the summary went the minimalist route considering the 17-run contest.

Between May 11 and 16th, Tim Dillard allowed 13 ER over 2.1 IP (three outings). On Monday he allowed seven runs in the 4th. Not his best in 2017...

Good to see Bubba Derby thriving. Interesting that he got outdueled by a Braves 2015 first rounder, Mike Soroka. He's 19 and in double A. The Braves do a great job drafting and developing upside pitching. They may be staring at McKenzie Gore in the first round this year, but may take a high upside position player.

Agreed. I was shocked to see his numbers recently after such a terrible start to the season. Another Mark Loretta perhaps?

Maybe he wasn't JUST a senior low-ball signing bonus SS after all.

crazy because right before then, he was putting together an excellent season. especially against right handed hitters. and he still has been okay away from Colorado Springs, in fact it seems he's a bit of a sacrificial lamb of sorts- especially last year- in 2016 he pitched 37 innings at home and only 9 away.

2017 should be Tim Dillard's last go around and he probably wont last the year on a roster. He might not last the next couple weeks as the Draft adds players to a system with little room.

The Brewers should find him an in-front of the camera position on their pre/post game coverage because if they don't another team (maybe minor league) or network will. Let him take Augie/Davey's job for a few years before moving him into the TV booth either as a 3rd voice or Rock's replacement.

Organizations should be trying to win games at every level. Why not bring up a starter from AA to make a spot start. Instead we have the Skysox taking multiple bullpen days to cover starts thus taxing the squad. Might as well forfeit the game or call the game due to weather Ala weather gate.
