That should have been a two run homer. Travis was safe. It was a tie and in that case the runner is safe. But NY didn't see it that way.

There are no ties and there is no rule about a tie goes to the runner.

If he was called safe on the field, chances are that call would've stood too.

Yep. Didn't see it but 'tie goes to the runner' is a myth.

Actually I believe by the letter of the law a theoretical 'tie' would go to the fielder as I think the rule says the runner needs to beat the ball. I'll have to look that up...

No need. You are correct on that.

Fun stuff, right?!? He's coming into his own. His production and seeing Broxton and his swing and miss approach makes me hope someone gives up something good for Broxton come July.

Ya know, if you would've told me Thursday that we'll win 1 of the 3 I would love taken it and been fine. But after watching all three and basically out playing them all three games, this series was still so frustrating. Either way, the Dodgers are very good and you tip your cap to some clutch hitting but they don't scare me. Brewers right there with them.

Rule 6.05 (j) A batter is out when, after a third strike or after he hits a fair ball, he or first base is tagged before he touches first base.

Rule 7.01 A runner acquires the right to an unoccupied base when he touches it before he is out. He is then entitled to it until he is put out, or forced to vacate it for another runner legally entitled to that base.

3 blown saves or not, Corey Knebel is still way better than anyone else in our pen and has elite closer stuff.

Again, no one was saying (I don't believe) that he shouldn't be our closer. He just needs to get the last three outs of the game at a higher rate. That is all. I mean it is his job.

The last two losses were extremely tough, so it's good to see the team bounce back and win this one. Obviously the Brewers could've swept the series and that's kind of a bummer, but at least it's encouraging that the team fought back to salvage the series. The starting pitching has been really good lately, here's to hoping that it's a sign of things to come.

So, the tie goes to the runner, unless called otherwise on the field, in which case the replay will uphold the tie going to whatever is called on the field.

We've been screwed by replay and/or 50/50 calls upheld at least 6 times in the last 2 weeks.

Hey I might be the one to say it.

Look at the way the Indians are using Andrew Miller this year and how valuable he's been in that role despite having NO saves.

Miller comes in in crucial situations to save the game with runners on before things get out of hand. It's been a real benefit for Cleveland and it's worked. There's no reason Corey couldn't have great success in that role too when he strikes out basically 2 batters per inning.

Maybe that should be his role here with Barnes being the guy to get the last 3 outs. I don't know.

I'm right there with ya. Closers role is overrated until you're losing games you had won in the 9th though.

In Vegas and the game is blacked out...lame.

Even at the sportsbooks?

Yep. Guy told us the Dodgers have some weird tv contract.

It's not that weird, it's just that Vegas is part of the Dodgers' radio and TV market. For a while it was easier in SD to listen to them on KDWN than the station from LA.

Listening to Dodgers TV and they are dumping on Jesus Aguilar. Guess he deserves it after last night.

The radio guys (Monday and Kennedy) were dumping on him yesterday as well for his plate discipline. In contrast to Sogard who they loved.

Closers role is overrated until your closer isn't available and you need to trust the 9th inning to a random reliever. That's cost us twice this year, yesterday with Torres and earlier this year with Drake in extras. The key is to have lots of good relievers so you can have good relievers come into tough situations and get strikeouts. If Feliz could have been the player we thought he could be, Knebal would be an excellent stopper.

Nothing about that definition indicates that a tie is supposed to go to the runner.
