So, there doesn't seem to be much talk about it, or maybe I just missed it, but are the Brewers trying to stretch Blazek out and make him into a starter? He's been quietly very effective in that role.

On the offensive side the Shuckers were lead by a trio of HRs to bust out 7 runs in the short game.

Offense falls flat in 3-2 loss to Astros

Freddy Peralta allowed just one earned run in the loss

The Mudcats could only manage 3 hits in this game. Still, they scored 2 runs in the 7th to tie the game but surrended a run in the bottom of that inning for the final margin. A two out rally in the 9th fell short. Freddie Peralta (6 1/3 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 1 ER, 4 BB, 5 K) started and took the loss. Brad Kuntz finished the game and the last run came in when he allowed an inherited runner to score on a two out double by Rodrigo Ayarza.

Jake Gatewood was 1-3 with a walk and Cooper Hummel drew 2 walks. With 2 outs in the 9th, Cooper Hummel drew a walk and Weston Wilson singled. Corey Ray then took a called 3rd strike after a long at bat to end the game.

Final: Colorado Springs 1, Oklahoma City 0, ten innings

Sky Sox Secure Extra-Inning Shutout

Rivera records lone RBI in second straight win

By Robby Veronesi / Colorado Springs Sky Sox

Yadiel Rivera drove in the game's lone run and five pitchers combined for a 10-inning shutout as the Colorado Springs Sky Sox defeated the Oklahoma City Dodgers, 1-0, in front of 7,988 at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark Friday night.

The Sky Sox (31-20) won the first extra-inning 1-0 game on the road in franchise history.

Read about the fantastic pitching and more at the link above, but see the go-ahead knock here:

Colorado Springs Box Score

If you're one to peek at the standings, you know the Sky Sox' division is tight, despite the excellent record of the Crew's club, so these two victories over the Dodgers' squad have been big.

Twenty of 27 pitches were strikes for RHP Tristan Archer in a scoreless two frames; Nate Orf 4-for-7 with a triple and double in the last two games, he's now hitting .304 overall after struggling in April (.205); Brandon Woodruff vs. Julio Urias on Saturday, nice!

Colorado Springs Game Log

Whew!

Beloit Beats Rattlers with Big Inning

Five-run fifth is enough to send Wisconsin to sixth straight loss

By Chris Mehring / Wisconsin Timber Rattlers

Wisconsin Boxscore

Another day, another pitching blowup for the Rattlers, another loss. A season-high six game losing streak and a season-low six games under .500. Jordan Desguin allowed all of the damage today, and all in one inning, as a five run fifth doomed the team. Luke Barker and Aaron Myers held Beloit in check for the final 4 2/3, but Wisconsin could not mount a comeback.

Joantgel Segovia and Mario Feliciano each had two hits. I didn't realize until now - this is the sixth game in a row Segovia has had exactly two hits, and he has a nine game hit streak going. It's bumped his average from .194 to .248, though the OPS still hits at a meager 580.

Nathan Rodriguez threw out four of the five stolen base attempts on him. He's thrown out 39% of runners this year.

Wisconsin Game Log

This did it:

Beloit Top of the 5th

Collin Theroux homers (9) on a fly ball to left field.

Eric Marinez triples (2) on a line drive to right fielder Demi Orimoloye.

Luis Barrera lines out to first baseman Ryan Aguilar.

Luke Persico singles on a line drive to right fielder Demi Orimoloye. Eric Marinez scores.

Nate Mondou walks. Luke Persico to 2nd.

Miguel Mercedes homers (11) on a fly ball to left field. Luke Persico scores. Nate Mondou scores.

Kyle Nowlin doubles (10) on a ground ball to left fielder Joantgel Segovia.

Pitching Change: Luke Barker replaces Jordan Desguin.

With Trace Loehr batting, wild pitch by Luke Barker, Kyle Nowlin to 3rd.

Trace Loehr reaches on a fielder's choice out, second baseman Trever Morrison to catcher Nathan Rodriguez. Kyle Nowlin out at home.

With JaVon Shelby batting, Trace Loehr caught stealing 2nd base, catcher Nathan Rodriguez to second baseman Trever Morrison.

Good link, for those that don't want to or can't listen in short he says he doesn't really know, just doing what they tell him to do and hopefully it opens up a door to either start or relieve at the big league level. He certainly has been effective, in 22 innings starting he has his ERA under 1 and has a strikeout an inning.

Another day, another game where Carolina doesn't get a hit until past the fifth inning. Starting to scratch my head on how this lineup can struggle. They have the worse batting average in the Carolina league. Pretty sad when this lineup and team was ranked in the 10 for most talented minor league teams by baseball America. Starting to believe more and more that this coaching staff is not very good (if this is the same staff from last yrs Brevard County affiliate). Diaz average is now down to .237 and is hitting .088 the last 10 games. On the bright side. Gatewood is still raking (still question how Brewers don't give everyone eye exams) and Ray batted over .290 in the month of May. ALSO, Erceg only has two bb's this season and a .587 OPS, didn't see that coming into the season.
