2017-05-24: Blue Jays (Stroman) at Brewers (Garza) 12:10 PM CDT [Brewers lose homerfest, 8-4]

hawing
Scheduled off day for #Brewers LF Ryan Braun. Craig Counsell wants to ease him in a bit off the DL.

Wouldn't read too much into it.

Not really buying Counsell's explanation much. He had a full 10 days rest to cover, returned for one day, got another day off on Monday, played 1 more game, and now needs another off? How much time off does this guy need on top of what he's already sitting for injuries?

Won't sugarcoat it, very frustrated with this guy, his inability to stay healthy is hurting this offense badly, and if it's this bad at 33 I hate to see what it'll be like at 35-36.

I'd check the numbers. When he was on the DL the offense thrived.

Haven't they been showing the numbers the last few days that the offense was scoring 1 run less per game with Braun out? They were still doing well and team was winning but that's still a big difference. Maybe I misheard it but that's what I thought those numbers were showing.

Regardless, with some others cooling and coming back to Earth it would be nice to get normal Braun in there now to get the offense going again. Last night was right there if he was on his game, multiple opportunities for him to win that game for us.

The offense has been fine pretty much all year. Thames slumped (a little and some of it might've just been natural because of his hot start) without having Braun behind him but overall they have scored plenty of runs. The pitching staff continues to be the thing that holds this team back from being consistent.

I just did check the numbers. They're scoring 5.6 runs per game this year with Braun in the lineup and 4.6 when he's not in the lineup.

Strike 2 to Broxton was way off the corner and Ball 2 was basically in the same spot. I know the calls for the machines get old but these guys suck. Compared to the available technology, anyway.

How long until Nick Franklin gets DFA'd?

He and his .232 OBP are awful.

.263/.333/.421/.754 (20 at bats) is his line as a pinch hitter. He has his role and he's done it pretty well. Will he be on this team all year? Maybe not but he doesn't get consistent playing time and when he's asked to give an at bat a game, he's done pretty well.

Nice to see Peralta have another good inning as a reliever.

It is interesting to see the Brewers slide and there is just not pitcher in their rotation to go out and be the guy to stop it. Playoff teams have these types of players. That's not to stay the Brewers won't win again I just highly doubt it will be because a starting pitcher goes out and throws 7 innings of shutout baseball.

What is with the commercials while the game is going on? I mean seriously?

MLB online was annoying for me today too. I was using Gameday on my library PC and following the WTMJ feed. I know they play video+audio ads between innings, but I can usually mute them at the start of a session and not hear them the rest of the day. Today the sound kept coming back, playing over the TMJ feed.

Can't think of a bobblehead I would want less than that Robin Yount one.

I like Robin just fine, but I can't say my soul has been empty and the only thing that can fill the void is this 1982 motorbike bobble. Jeff Levering keeps talking about it as one of the best bobbles ever (so consistently that it must be a script he's being asked to follow) and I keep wanting to text the booth and say, "really?" Maybe if I were a Baby Boomer?

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

When do we play Cincinnati again? Would be nice to get thames power stroke back.
Remember what Yoda said:

The stats probably tell otherwise but it feel as though if this offense doesn't put up 6 plus runs a night, they are just not going to win much.
