BELOIT, WI - The weather did not cooperate on Tuesday at Pohlman Field. The scheduled Midwest League game between the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers and the Beloit Snappers has been rained out. The teams make up the game as part of a doubleheader on Wednesday night. Game one is scheduled to start at 4:30 PM.

Carolina's game with Down East has been postponed. Doesn't Down East mean "Maine", that is down wind and east from Boston to a sailor? I guess Kinston is maybe down east from Jacksonville but I don't think you can sail there.

Defense Turns Triple Play in 7-2 Defeat

Cordell, Nieuwenhuis provide RBI doubles in series opener.

If you are a Brandon Woodruff fan you might want to save yourself a click as it wasn't a pleasant outing tonight against the Baby Cakes.

 

For the offense things weren't much better as they could only muster 2 runs against Baby Cakes pitching in their 7-2 loss. Brett Phillips (2-4) and Yadiel Rivera (2-3 BB) were the only Sky Sox hitters to record multiple hits. The Sky Sox 2 runs came from doubles off the bats of Ryan Cordell and Kirk Nieuwenhuis.

 

 

 

On the mound, Brandon Woodruff (5.2 IP, 10 hits, 5 ER, BB, 6K) started the game while Wei-Chung Wang (1.1 IP, BB, 3K) and Tim Dillard (2.0 IP, 2 H, 2K) paired up to throw 3.1 innings of solid work. The only run from the bullpen duo came thanks to a bases loaded HBP in the 9th. The run went down as an unearned run thanks to Rene Garcia's second error of the night, catcher's interference, the previous batter.
