MUST-SEE MOVIES

I could not be more excited for Ghostbusters 3 in 2020.

I am assuming you are talking about an actual Ghostbusters movie, with Akroyd and Murray to follow up to the Ghostbusters 2 movie?

It’s apparently a sequel. Presumably, there will be a ‘handoff’ from one or more of the surviving ghostbusters to a new cast. The director of GB3 is the son of the original director. It will not be related to the 2016 reboot.

That is a good thing as that movie was just horrible. I don't think I laughed once at any of the jokes that were made it was just a horrible movie and I will leave it at that.

I saw Serenity last night.

I won't spoil anything, but I was very VERY unhappy with the twist that takes place in the last 1/4 of the movie.

Up until that point, it was great! After the twist was revealed, it was crap.

Had I known anything about the twist, I wouldn't have wasted my time.

Disappointing.

I saw Glass a few weeks ago. Typical M Night Shyamalan movie and if you don't know what that is then just get ready for the stupid plot twist at the end.

It worked one time why does he keep on doing this over and over and over and over again. I would be ok with the ending plot twists if they were actually good and made any sense at all. Stupid plot twist that completely derails the movie.

That is exactly what I thought about Serenity. Movie is moving along nicely, it's enjoyable, then BAMO! Wrecked with stupid nonsense.

I get what you're saying, but I enjoyed Glass. My wife and I thought the ending made sense and fit with the movies. What didn't you like about this particular ending?

I will gladly admit I do enjoy crappy movies, so I am not saying it was good, but was enjoyable.

I have no idea if this is necessary the right thread to post this in. Regardless, I'm going to do it anyway because Dumb and Dumber is a "must-see" movie that I'm sure everyone in this thread has seen a number of times. I will preface this by saying my wife and I are not movie watchers (me more so than her), but I found out she hasn't ever seen it, so we are actually watching it now.

Maybe I am just stuck in my ways, but I just don't see this type of humor in current movies. Am I wrong on this? I don't really watch new movies, so I could just be wrong.

Finally saw Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas! That's now in my top ten movies of all time. Kept asking myself, how did I miss this? Didn't take too much to remember that when it came out I had three children under the age of eight!

Have you ever seen "Where the Buffalo Roam"?

Abducted in Plain Sight on Netflix is insane.

The sheer stupidity (& selfishness) of the parents literally boggled my mind numerous times & just when you think they couldn't possibly be any dumber they go & do something even more idiotic.

The way they continued to communicate with him right up to almost the very end. The cheerfulness they still had in their voice after several years when they answered phone calls from him, "Hi B!", just odd.

However, I do believe it was an era where basically people were more trusting of others in general. There was very much of a "Well, he/she would never do something like that" towards anyone who seemed "normal" or "nice". Even the FBI guy, how he talked about the fact that they didn't even know what the word "pedophile" meant. It wasn't a term they used. Parents kept less tabs on their kids than they do now and were a lot less fearful that someone would do something bad to them. They just thought if they lived in a "nice" neighborhood and their kids were somewhere in the neighborhood, everything was good. All the neighbors seem to be nice people.

Scam artists tend to target older generations. Yes, some of that is due to just taking advantage of old age and the deterioration of the mind, but I believe some of that is the current population of the older generation. They didn't grow up as "on guard" and as cynical as the generations that came after them. They have a harder time believing that there are people in the world that can be so devious and untrustworthy.

FWIW, the spoiler was there because if there was a sequel, they needed to make things logical. That being said, if people wanted to still be involved, they would work around the spoiler.

I'm going to see Captain Marvel tonight. I'm going into this not expecting it to be good, but to continue the saga of this lengthy multiverse. I am curious how things will impact the endgame. Captain Marvel is supposed to take place in the mid 90s before any of the Avengers take place. Some minor stuff from Agents of Shield have occurred but its a relatively dead period.

Rocket Man is NOT a must see movie... In fact, I'd rather have my money back.

About half way through, I started thinking about what I was going to do when I left the theatre. Started watching the clock, waiting for it to be over.

Borefest.

I was a huge fan of Rocket Man. I would say if you like Jersey Boys, Bohemian Rhapsody, and the music of Elton John, there's a good chance you'd like Rocket Man. Then again, just getting out on a date night is a big deal anymore for us.

I haven't seen either one but Rocket Man got far higher critical acclaim than Bohemian Rhapsody, where the consensus was basically a mediocre movie carried by the lead performance. Those types of movies just don't move me to the cinema though. I just don't have a problem waiting for them to show up on a streaming service.

I think I normally get to the movies twice a year and this year I'll probably be there about 10 times. I'm a sucker for Blockbusters and there are a lot of them this year. Captain Marvel, End Game, Spiderman, possibly MIB, Aladdin, Lion King, Joker, Frozen 2, Star Wars, Toy Story 4...I'll probably see them all.

I liked Rocketman. I didn’t know much about his story so it had my attention in that regard.
