"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

Jackie Bradley Jr's jackpot wad.

And people wanted a 6 man rotation. We would need like 18 guys on the pitching staff.

I guess that's why Stearns values versatile bench players so much. He knows he's going to need to have a short bench so you better have guys that can play anywhere.

Really nice to see Chase get out of messes on a night when you can tell he is fighting it a bit.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

There is that low strike being called again. Comes and goes.

I wish they would have just left the strike zone alone this season instead of 'raising' it. In the world of real umpires, raising it just made it worse, because now you have some umps calling it, others pretty much just calling it the old way, and there's even less consistency than there was before.

Either just leave it alone or turn it over to the machines which is probably inevitable anyway.
