Thames hits a dinger and they play his Korean home run music. Sweet.

"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

We got dingers all over Miller Park and we can't get a game thread atop the pages at brewerfan.net!

Braun back in the 3-hole and here comes the sticks. Let's pound the racism right outta Boston.

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Villar needs to sit a game... and switch him with Broxton in the order.

Didn't Villar get on twice already?

The person who usually does it is at the game. Working on it.

I don't care if he got on twice, you can't get caught stealing 3rd with Braun at the plate. He hasn't sat once and he hasn't done anything all year, move him down in the order until he gets straightened out.

Thanks. See Mod Forum. I have a question.

Trying to steal 3rd with one out is not the end of the world. With 2 out it's much worse. We make such a huge deal every time Villar gets caught stealing but probably wouldn't have said much it it was anyone else.

You certainly don't want to make a habit of it but a runner on 3rd with one out has a lot more advantages than being on 2nd. Execution wise it was a bad play, bad jump, but if you can get a good one it's not a terrible idea.

No, it's a terrible idea. Especially with Braun at the plate. Even more, I hate the way it seems to be tolerated.

Thames and Braun come up after Villar. Trying to steal with Thames up is no better if not worse. Do you want him to just never steal anymore, or what?

You get a guy on 3rd, a fly ball drives him in. Maybe the infield has to come in, and it results in a hit like the one Arcia just got. You don't do it every night but picking your spots with them is fine. Obviously you have to execute better than he did. But it's not just this incredible stupid play like some are making it out to be. If he gets in to 3rd easily no one says a thing.

You only need a 69% success rate stealing 3rd with 1 out to break even, so it is not a terrible idea. Villar in his career steals 3rd base at 80% (28/35)

Thank you. Obviously he didn't execute it well at all. But it's not a horrible idea to try once in awhile. If there had been 2 out, much different situation.
