Think Woodruff as surpassed Hader for the 1st pitching prospect called up. Doesn't matter where he has been pitching.... he has been dominate!

Freddy Peralta K numbers are off the chart! Diplan with a 2nd straight good outing.

Hit streak continues for Gatewood!

Disappointing when you see Colorado had big offensive day but none of it from Phillips, Brinson, Cordell

Yes on Woodruff. Hader's control is still an issue. Woodruff looks very, very solid. I really hope Hader clicks with his command. He can be nasty if he does.

Great to see with Gatewood. He's showing significant improvement. I know he's at first, but I wonder if he still has hope at third, defensively, since he's a former shortstop. If anyone wants to dismiss it as a small sample size, he hasn't really shown the balance in his approach before. I'd call that real development.

Lara, what can you say. He looks great in the team photo but it's not translating. He's still young but you'd like to see a spark there.

Ray and Mudcats walk-off in extras

Corey Ray delivered a tenth inning walk-off double for the Mudcats on Sunday

By Greg Young / Carolina Mudcats | May 7, 2017 7:44 PM ET

Corey Ray batting for the Carolina Mudcats. (NIKOLAUS - Carolina Mudcats)

Freddie Peralta, as reported by Greg Young, had given up just one hit in 28 at bats to left handed hitters this year. Today he gave up one hit in 5 at bats, so 2-33 on the year. Peralta went only 4 innings today giving up 4 hits and 2 runs with 1 walk and 6 strike outs. Marcos Diplan went the next 5 innings (4 H, 2 R, 0 BB, 5 K). Working the 10th and picking up the win was Nate Griep.

Corey Ray (2-5, 2B, BB) was the star as he hit a long double to the wall in left center to drive in the winning run. Luis Aviles and Isan Diaz were both 2-5 and both stole a base. Trent Clark was 2-4 with a walk. Carlos Belonis reached 5 times going 4-4 with a walk and 2 stolen bases (now up to .292 batting average). Jake Gatewood moved his hitting streak up with a single in his last at bat (now at 17).

Dayton Edges Wisconsin 3-2

Dragons complete the sweep of the Rattlers

Wisconsin Boxscore

Another listless performance at the plate has brought Wisconsin's team batting average down to .212, which at last is now worse than Biloxi's. To illustrate the pain, Trever Morrison has a 475 OPS, and that was only the third-worst OPS in the Rattlers' lineup today. Monte Harrison drew two walks, but his batting average has plunged almost 70 points in the past few weeks.

At this point, I don't understand the point of continuing to throw Gilbert Lara out on the field. He looks lost at the plate, and his swing just isn't working. I am unaware of the injury status of Trey York and Nick Roscetti, but if they are healthy one or both could/should find their way onto the Wisconsin roster soon.

Tom Jankins was solid again, allowing 2 earned runs over six inning of work. He seems like a guy that could easily enough be moved up to, and handle, the Carolina League if the need arose. Not sure which one of he, Jordan Desguin, or Trey Supak would get the call if it happened right now. Someone who may be in Wisconsin for even less time than any of those guys is Parker Berberet, who continues to look the part. He once again could not lose, hurling three scoreless innings. His ERA is down to 0.61 through 14 2/3 innings of work as a professional pitcher. Move him up, guys.

Wisconsin Log

Wisconsin did have a chance to bust the floodgates in the 6th, but that bust went bust:

Wisconsin Bottom of the 6th

Trever Morrison walks.

Demi Orimoloye doubles (6) on a line drive to left fielder Taylor Trammell. Trever Morrison scores.

Mario Feliciano pops out to first baseman James Vasquez in foul territory.

Tucker Neuhaus singles on a ground ball to center fielder Jose Siri. Demi Orimoloye scores.

Pitching Change: Aaron Fossas replaces Andrew Jordan.

Monte Harrison walks. Tucker Neuhaus to 2nd.

Ryan Aguilar walks. Tucker Neuhaus to 3rd. Monte Harrison to 2nd.

Ronnie Gideon strikes out swinging.

Jose Cuas strikes out swinging.

(Yes, that would be the nephew of Tony Fossas working into and out of trouble.)

From the game summary you just read that kicked off this post --

Later on, Chris Harris provided an update via Twitter:

Michael Choice is okay after getting hit in the shoulder and back of the head by a 96 mph fastball this afternoon - removed for precaution.
