The striking thing about the photo of Brinson, Cordell and Phillips is how much shorter Phillips is. Brinson is listed as 6'3" and Cordell at 6'4" (although Brinson appears to be slightly taller than Cordell) and Phillips is listed at 6'0". Phillips height seems to be the one that is fudged.

 

Phillips only comes up to Brinson's nose. There is at least 5-6 inches from the nose to the top of a head. Brinson is probably a true 6'3" - or 6'4" which would make Phillips closer to 5'10".

If the announcer is correct and the pitcher was on the rubber then the umps blew that call pretty bad. The field ump wasn't even looking at the play when the tag was made.
