Can't say enough about the media notes the affiliates provide, always interesting tidbits:

CAROLINA: Freddy Peralta has totaled 26 strikeouts over 18.0 innings this season and owns a 13.00 SO/9 IP Ratio over his four appearances (4 G, 2 GS). Peralta has also held left-handed hitters to just one hit and a .050 (1-for-20) average against him this season.

WISCONSIN: Three straight postponements are still two shy of the Timber Rattlers team record. The 2003 Timber Rattlers had their first five games of the season postponed due to snow. The entire four-game series against Beloit (April 3-6) and the first game of a series with Clinton (April 7) at home were all lost due to a snow and ice storm that hit town on April 2. The five postponements in a row was matched in 2008 when the final three games of a home series with Clinton (April 8-10) and the first two games of a home series with Dayton were lost to rain and snow.

Man, Isan Diaz has a nice swing.
"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

Meanwhile, Isan Diaz just boom again! His 3rd HR in as many games. He's 2-2 w/ HR, 2B tonight. AVG up to .295. #Mudcats

His bat and swing is just too good to keep him down for long. Think he will be a top 25 prospect by next season in rankings. His bat is special. Last year at Wisconsin, favorite part of each game was listening to the sound of the bat. He just squares everything up on the sweet spot

FORMERLY BrewCrewWS2008 and YoungGeezy don't even remember other names used

Isan Diaz is making an argument for #2 in the system. And there is no way he's in AA before he has at least 200-250 ab's in High A. I think he will play the whole season in carolina. I agree about top 25 by the end of the year.

Sky Sox Survive Extra-Inning Marathon, 8-6

De Jesus and Kohlscheen record RBIs in 14th inning to finish 4:34 contest

Colorado Springs Box Score

It was a late one in Oklahoma City.

Ivan De Jesus Jr. ripped a triple in the top of the 14th to knock in the game winning run - leading the Sky Sox to a 8-6 victory. The game lasted for over four and a half hours.

The Sky Sox bullpen tried their hardest to blow this one. Andrew Barbosa gave up a pair of runs in the 7th, then David Goforth failed to protect a one run lead by giving up an HR in the 9th. But Andy Oliver, Stephen Kohlscheen and Michael Blazek would put up goose eggs for the next 4.1 innings. Kohlscheen would even add an RBI single in the 14th, giving the Sky Sox an insurance run.

Colorado Springs starter Brandon Woodruff was solid (6.0 IP, 7 hits, 3 ER, 0BB, 6K), if unspectacular, on Tuesday.

In addition to De Jesus Jr. (1-2, 3B, game winning RBI), the offensive leaders for the Sky Sox were Brett Phillips (3-4, 2 2B, 3 RBI), Ryan Cordell (3-6, BB), Garrett Cooper (2-6), Kyle Wren (2-3) and Lewis Brinson (1-5, 2 BB).

In 30 at bats in 2016/17, Brandon Woodruff is hitting .300, including an HR.

Colorado Springs Game Log

Colorado Springs scored a pair of runs in the 14th to secure the team’s latest victory. The key hit was Ivan De Jesus Jr.’s triple, which scored the winning run. De Jesus Jr. would then score on a single by pitcher Stephen Kohlscheen.

Erceg's game tying blast not enough in 4-3 loss

Isan Diaz and Lucas Erceg both homered and combined to drive in all three Carolina runs

By Carolina Mudcats | May 2, 2017 11:41 PM ET

Kyle Tucker homered in the 12th inning to put the Astros ahead for good. The Mudcats had a shot to win it in the 11th inning when Corey Ray led off with a double. Intentional walks to Isan Diaz and Lucas Erceg paid off when the Mudcats were unable to bring in a run with the bases loaded and one out. Marcos Diplan (6 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 3 BB, 7 K) started and had some success. Progress over his last couple of outings. Freddie Peralta (5 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 7 BB, 9 K) followed and struggled with command at times. Back to back triples by Buies Creek led to the 2 runs given up by Peralta in the 8 inning. Quintin Torres-Costa worked the 12th, giving up the Tucker home run.

Isan Diaz (3-4, 2 2B, HR, IBB) raised his batting average to .299 for the season. Lucas Erceg (2-4, HR, IBB) hit his home run with one out in the 9th to tie the game. The rest of the team had only 4 hits in 12 innings.

Rattlers Stop Hot Rods 5-2

Lara Homers in Wisconsin victory

Wisconsin Boxscore

Wisconsin pulls back to .500 at 11-11 with contributions from a number of players. They have the exact same record they did through 22 games last year, though 2016 game #22 was the final game of a six game winning streak. Last year's Rattlers would go on to flirt with .500 for much of the rest of the season and finally earn a playoff spot in the generous Midwest League postseason system. I think this year's team is not necessarily more talented than the group that was there at this time last year, but they have more of a college backbone, especially in the pitching department, that might allow them to take a few more steps forward for steps back than they were able to manage in 2016.

The Rattler offense drew six walks, which has to be close to a season high - as a team they've drawn the second-fewest walks in the Midwest League this year. (On the flip side, the pitching staff has given up the fifth-fewest walks in the 16 team league.) Demi Orimoloye and Ronnie Gideon both worked two walks. Orimoloye also stole bases numbered 6, 7, and 8, which leads the team. Gideon was caught stealing for the third and fourth time this year, one of which was a pickoff. I have not seen close to all of the Rattlers' game action this season, but I have managed to see all four of Gideon's stolen base attempts. He needs to be more... selective. Sneak attack.

Gilbert Lara, whose batting average is still a meager .164, ran into one in the fifth inning, and when he runs into them, he hits them a long way. It was his second home run on the season. Joantgel Segovia hit his first extra base knock of the season, a double. Tucker Neuhaus added his ninth double as part of a 2-hit night. Monte Harrison struggled at the plate again, logging 3 strikeouts for the second time in three games, though he did barely miss his 7th HR in the fifth inning, a line drive that hooked foul down the left field line at the last moment. Monte also made a number of really nice plays in the outfield.

On the pitching side, Tom Jankins was solid, allowing 2 runs over 5 innings. He's been leaving the ball up more than he should the past few starts. He got away with it for the most part today. Jankins just touches 91-92, so it is imperative he keeps the ball down and hits his spots. I have confidence he will keep doing that more often than not - he's one of my favorite "under the radar" prospects. The diminutive Dan Brown had perhaps his best outing as a pro, earning the three-inning save. He allowed three singles, and struck out three in three scoreless innings. Brown has been in a quasi-tandem role this season, though I do think his future lies in the bullpen long term.

These postgame podcasts are sweet, can't imagine another minor league club anywhere is doing something so ambitious after each home game, and Chris and Kyle, you're often my audio during my 40-minute commute, thanks!
