Gatewood has half as many walks as he had all of 2016.

Conor Harber had probably his most effective start (4 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 7 K) of the season. It was not particularly efficient however as he took 91 pitches to go 4 innings. Quintin Torres-Costa (4 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 6 K) pitched the next 4 innings to earn the win. Nate Griep finished up with 2 strike outs in his one inning.

Leading the offense were Corey Ray (2-3, BB, SB, Sac Fly), Troy Stokes Jr (1-3, 2B, 2 RBI), Isan Diaz (1-3, HR, BB, 2 RBI) and Jake Gatewood (2-4, 2B, SB).

Trivia: Astros starter Akeem Bostick is the brother of former Packers' player Brandon Bostick. (The Mudcats did not try on onside kick in this game).

The Biloxi Shuckers fell into an early 4-0 hole on Saturday, and were unable to overcome it, as they lost their series opener to the Jackson Generals 8-2 in front of 3,507 fans at MGM Park.

The loss was the third straight for the Shuckers, who fell victim to swirling winds on a gusty night. The Generals hit two opposite-field home runs to left field to pad their lead in the middle innings.

Aaron Wilkerson (2-2) started for the Shuckers, and was greeted in the first inning by two doubles, a single and a sacrifice fly to put his team in a 2-0 deficit. He recovered in the second, but the third inning started with five straight baserunners and two more runs. The big blow in the inning, a two-run single by Kevin Cron, was preceded by two dropped popups in foul territory by the Shuckers infield.

The Shuckers got a run back in the fourth when Michael Reed hit his fourth home run, and second in as many days, over the left field wall. They added a run in the fifth and loaded the bases to chase starter Alex Young from the game, but Gabe Speier (2-0) entered to escape the jam.

The Generals would add to their lead with an Evan Marzilli solo home run and Victor Reyes two-run double to make the score 7-2 after six innings. In the seventh, Speier helped his own cause and homered to left field to make the score 8-2. It was the first home run by a Generals pitcher since 2006, the final year of Jackson's affiliation with the National League's Chicago Cubs.

Nick Ramirez, Forrest Snow, Preston Gainey and Matt Ramsey relieved Wilkerson in the game's latter innings. Mauricio Dubon extended his hitting streak to six games with a fifth-inning double.

The two teams play at 1:05 p.m. Sunday.

The Sky Sox lost despite a fine effort from Hiram Burgos (5 IP, 3 Hits, 1 ER, 0BB, 3K). The club’s relievers would fail Burgos. Andrew Barbosa would give up a run in two innings of work. But he real damage came 8th inning, when David Goforth would surrender four hits and a run, and then in 9th, when Andy Oliver would give up two hits and two walks.

Offensively, the Sky Sox managed just seven hits. Garrett Cooper (2-4, 2B), Brett Phillips (1-3, BB, HR) and Andrew Susac (2-3) lead the way.

Neuhaus Hits Walkoff Homer as Rattlers Rally for 7-6 Win in Ten Innings

Wisconsin trailed Peoria 6-0, but hit four homers to storm back for third straight win

By Chris Mehring / Wisconsin Timber Rattlers

Wisconsin Boxscore

Wisconsin continued to terrorize Peoria pitching, with Tucker Neuhaus the hero this afternoon as he clubbed home runs numbers four and five, the second of which produced a walk-off win in the bottom of the ninth. He hit a third ball hard, but to the warning track, in the 8th. Demi Orimoloye also hit his fifth homer, moving he and Neuhaus into a three-way tie for the team lead in homers, joining Monte Harrison, who hit his fifth yesterday. Orimoloye pulled within 6 points of the OPS for the team in that department - he trails Harrison 1.030 to 1.024. They rank eighth and ninth in the Midwest League in OPS. And all three of the Rattlers with 5 home runs are tied for the league lead.

Mario Feliciano and Jose Cuas also both picked up two hits. Feliciano is 13th in the league in OPS himself, just barely trailing Harrison and Orimoloye, and he's only struck out 6 times in 48 ABs. Trever Morrison, who got off to just a brutal start at the plate, added a double. He has a staggering 7 BBs and 13 Ks over 28 recorded at-bats. He's closer to Scooter Gennett than Russ Branyan physically, so being that the third part of the Three-TO isn't coming (he has a serious predilection for hitting ground balls), hopefully Morrison starts making a bit more contact.

Four Rattler pitchers covered 10 innings, though none pitched more than 3. Jordan Desguin (3 IP, 4 ER) and Miguel Sanchez (3 IP, 2 ER) both had forgettable outings. Yeoman hurler Parker Berberet turned in a crisp second professional pitching outing (3 IP, 1 H, 3 K), and Dan Brown pitched a perfect 10th, and picked up his second professional win in two decisions in the process.

Wisconsin Log

That didn't take long:

Wisconsin Bottom of the 10th

Mario Feliciano grounds out, pitcher Spencer Trayner to first baseman Stefan Trosclair.

Tucker Neuhaus homers (5) on a fly ball to right center field.

Not Brewers' news, but on April 12, this dude allowed one hit over seven scoreless innings at Biloxi. Video at the link, too bad it was a road game, so this audio is from the "losing" booth...

Rattlers outfielder Demi Orimoloye has high ceiling

Tim Froberg, Appleton Post-Crescent

GRAND CHUTE – There are high-ceiling prospects and then there are those whose potential extends through the roof and into the clouds.

That's the kind of upside Demi Orimoloye has.
