Monte & Demi are real hot last 7 and 6 game hit streaks respectively! Monte another bomb tonight!

Harrison:7G 25AB 12H 1 2B, 3 HR, 9RBI, 2BB 3K

Orimolye: 6 G, 23AB, 10 H, 2 2B, 3HR. 7RBI, 1BB 8K

Too many Ks for Demi but overall nice to see them hot! Shocked with how little those two are running though....freak athletes not taking any bases.

Brinson is an animal....Is Super 2 past yet?!? Can't come soon enough!

Dubon only one hitting over .250 in Biloxi...Ortega only other one hitting over .215.....yikes. Biloxi isn't use to that awful of an offensive of a team.

Sky Sox Split Series-Ending Doubleheader

Colorado Springs and Memphis each record 5-1 wins on a chilly Friday night.

Lewis Brinson is showing no ill effects from the dislocated finger that kept him out of several games earlier this year. In a double header today, the 22-year old centerfielder had five hits on eight at bats (including an HR) helping the Sky Sox split with the Memphis Redbirds.

Brinson is now hitting .410 for the season.

Game One Highlights

Not a lot for the Sky Sox. The club managed only six hits and a single run in a 5-1 lose. Brinson (2-4, 2B) and Yadiel Rivera (2-3) lead the offense. Sky Sox hitters couldn’t capitalize when they had the chance - going 0-5 with runners in scoring position.

On the mound, top pitching prospect Josh Hader produced middling results, giving up three earned runs in six innings of work. He walked three and struck out four.

Game Two Highlights

Much better.

The Sky Sox pounded out a dozen hits in a 5-1 victory. Ryan Cordell (3-3, 2B, 2 RBI), Lewis Brinson (3-4, HR, SB), Kyle Wren (4-2, 2 2B) and Yadiel Rivera (2-3, 2B) provided the punch.

On the mound, the quartet of Michael Blazek (3 IP, 0 ER, 2BB, 3K), Tristan Archer (1.2 IP, 1 ER), Tyler Cravy (1.1 IP, O ER, 1 K) and Rob Scahill (1 IP, O ER, 1K) held the Redbirds to a single run.

While Brinson has garnered much of the accolades of late for the Sky Sox, Rivera has done well, upping his batting average to .386 for the season.

Shuckers score early, but drop series finale and series at Chattanooga

DSC_0259_1_idmcnzhj_yay6zbdr.jpg

CHATTANOOGA, TN - The Biloxi Shuckers scored the first three runs of Friday's game at Chattanooga, but the Lookouts scored the final six to win 6-3. The Lookouts took the series three games to two, and improved to 8-7 on the year as the Shuckers dropped to 6-9.

Michael Reed started the scoring in the top of the first, launching his third home run of the season to give the Shuckers a 1-0 lead. Art Charles scored on a throwing error by pitcher Paul Clemens (W, 1-0) in the second, and George Iskenderian followed with an RBI fielder's choice to extend the lead to 3-0.

Angel Ventura gave the Shuckers 3.2 innings in the start, allowing three runs on six hits while striking out one. The Lookouts chipped away at the early deficit with a two-run double from Engelb Vielma in the third and an RBI single from Ryan Walker in the fourth to tie the score at 3-3.

Tayler Scott pitched 1.1 innings of scoreless relief, but Taylor Jungmann (L, 0-2) ran into trouble in the sixth. After loading the bases on two walks and an error by shortstop Mauricio Dubon, Jungmann allowed a three-run single from Nick Gordon to give the Lookouts their ultimate lead.

The Shuckers went 0-for-12 with runners in scoring position over the course of the game, and relievers Todd Van Steensel and John Curtiss (S, 2) pitched out of threats to keep Chattanooga's lead intact.

Mauricio Dubon extended his hitting streak to five games with a 1-for-5 night at the plate. Dubon finished the five-game series 8-for-19 with a home run, six RBI and two stolen bases.

The Shuckers return home on Saturday as they take on the defending Southern League champion Jackson Generals for a five-game series. First pitch Saturday is scheduled for 6:35, with the Beau Rivage Pregame Show starting at 6:15 on Cruisin' WGCM AM-1240/FM-100.9 and the Shuckers Radio Network. The game will also be available on MiLB.TV at biloxishuckers.com and TuneIn Radio.

Saturday, the Shuckers will partner with March of Dimes for a benefit jersey auction. The jersey features a unique aquatic design, showcasing the beauty of the Mississippi Gulf Coast and was designed by Ocean Springs tattoo artist Matt Stebly. Saturday also features the second fireworks show of the season. The homestand continues with Family Fun Day and a ZOOperstars! performance on Sunday, Bark in the Park presented by Raising Cane's on Monday and the first Education Day of the year on Wednesday.

Box Score

"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

de Oleo's three HRs power Astros to 9-4 victory

Eduardo de Oleo homered three times at Five County Stadium on Friday night

By Carolina Mudcats | April 22, 2017 12:38 AM ET

Marcos Diplan (2/3 IP, 6 H, 6 R, 1 BB, 1 K) started and took the loss. Freddie Peralta worked 5 innings giving up 1 run on a De Oleo HR while walking 3 and striking out 8. De Oleo is the Astros 24-year-old backup catcher working for his 3rd team in the last year. He had hit 22 career home runs before this game. Mudcat pitchers combined for 8 walks.

The Mudcat offense put plenty of men on base but couldn't drive in enough of them. Isan Diaz hit his first home run of the season in the 9th inning. Lucas Erceg (2-5, 2B), Jake Gatewood (3-4, 2B, BB), and Troy Stokes (3-4, BB, SB) led the offense.

The Timber Rattlers had faced Yoanys Quiala twice last year when he pitched for Quad Cities. Gatewood homered off him last year so there was some familiarity there. Carolina Box Score

GRAND CHUTE, WI - Cameron Roegner pitched six scoreless innings and Monte Harrison drove in three runs for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers Friday night at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium and it was enough for a 4-1 win over the Peoria Chiefs. The win was the second straight for the Rattlers, who moved their record back above the .500 mark.

Wisconsin (8-7) went in front with a pair of runs in the bottom of the third. Demi Orimoloye doubled with two outs to drive Joantgel Segovia home from first base to get Wisconsin the lead. Peoria pitcher Ian Oxnevad walked Mario Feliciano and hit Tucker Neuhaus to load the bases. Harrison drew a walk after falling behind 1-2 in the count to force in the second run of the inning.

Harrison, who homered twice on Thursday night, lined a two-run home run in the bottom of the fifth inning on Friday to put the Rattlers up 4-0. The homer was the fifth of the season for Harrison, who has twelve RBI this season. He was 1-for-2 with two walks on Friday night to extend his current hitting streak to seven games. He is 12-for-25 during the streak.

Roegner pitched six scoreless innings for the Timber Rattlers. The left-handed starter allowed four hits, walked one, and struck out five.

The Chiefs (6-8) got on the scoreboard with a solo home run by Danny Hudzina in the top of the seventh inning.

Braden Webb entered the game in the top of the eighth for the Rattlers and closed out the game with two scoreless innings to earn his first professional save.

Game three of the series is Saturday afternoon. Jordan Desguin (1-1, 2.70) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Timber Rattlers. Steve Farinaro (0-1, 11.25) is set to start for the Chiefs. Game time is 1:05pm.
