Carolina with a run to open things up. When Ray gets back that lineup isn't even going to be fair.
"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

Diplan and Peralta have combined for a, uh, nice game through six innings.

Diplan and Peralta have combined for a, uh, nice game through six innings.

Through seven innings now, they've combined for 4 walks, 7 strikeouts, and... well just check it out for yourself.

EDIT: :(

Not just “at Night” anymore.

Diplan, Peralta and Griep lead Mudcats to nail-biting win

Marcos Diplan and Freddy Peralta combined to no-hit the Blue Rocks through 7.0 innings on Monday

By Greg Young / Carolina Mudcats | April 10, 2017 11:17 PM ET

The Mudcats managed only one hit in this game but made it stand up in a 2-1 win. Marcos Diplan (5 IP, 0 H, 3 BB, 5 K) started and got the win. He was followed by Freddie Peralta (3 IP, 1 R, 3 H, 1 BB, 3 K) and Nate Griep (1 IP, 1 H, 3 K). After giving up 3 straight hits and one run in the 8th inning, Freddie Peralta escaped a first and third, nobody out jam with no further trouble. Nate Griep allowed a triple to the lead off man in the 9th and then struck out 3 straight to close out the game.

Lucas Erceg's first inning single was the only hit in the game for the Mudcats. Walks led to both Mudcat runs.

Final: Montgomery 13, Biloxi 6

Defensive miscues cost Shuckers in loss to Biscuits

Shuckers head home with a 3-2 record

First of all, Montgomery announcer only picks up on his mistake at the end of this clip - this is Mauricio Dubon, folks --

As Chris Harris just pointed out in the game summary you just read (we are training you to read the game summaries, right?) --

"Three more fielding errors in the eighth brought the Shuckers total to nine, which tied a 46-year-old Southern League record set by Birmingham (vs. Memphis) in 1971."

E: Dubon 2 (2, fielding, fielding); Ventura (1, throw); Iskenderian 2 (2, throw, fielding); Houle (1, throw); Ortega, A 2 (2, throw, fielding); Ramirez, N (1, throw).

Ouch, but notice for each player, it was their first errors of the season.

Biloxi Box Score

RHP Angel Ventura was charged with more unearned runs in two innings (11) than in 117.2 IP last year (8). Ventura also allowed nine actual baserunners in his two frames and committed an error himself, so not without blame in this one.

Clint Coulter's double was his first hit of the season (now 1-for-12, 1 BB, 5 K), played three of the five games to start the season, and that was in a series that included the DH. Blake Allemand, Javier Betancourt, and Victor Roache made up the bench in this game, did not see action.

Biloxi Game Log

1st, 2nd and 7th innings not for the squeamish...

CJ Wittmann of Perfect Game (previously of 2080 Ball) was at last night's Carolina game and shared scouting notes on Twitter regarding a few players including these insights on Marcos Diplan...

@cjwittjr: #Brewers Marcos Diplan 91-94; sink, limited plane. CH 84-86; plays off FB well. Showing feel for both SL & CB. Loose arm.

@cjwittjr: Diplan is cruising through 5. Spotting up 90-93; going to SL for strikes & chase along w/ CH. Cmd a little loose but he can pitch. #brewers

Just one of those nights for Biloxi I guess. Dubon and Ortega are consider well above average fielders who are known for glove. Defensively, the infield with both of them out there in the middle should be a strength. I don't expect to see games like this from the both of them very often.

Proud member since 2003 (geez ha I was 14 then)

FORMERLY BrewCrewWS2008 and YoungGeezy don't even remember other names used
