We've signed RHP Tom Wilhelmsen and LHP Frank Lopez and assigned them to Col Springs and Carolina, respectively.

Only 23 years old but in his 7th pro season, the long-time Rangers southpaw was released on June 16th. As you'll see at the link above, he's got swingman ability, and innings are always in demand. Career WHIP of 1.40, but higher at recent AA assignments.

Probably most disappointed for Lillis. Spent all high school in Pints shadow but he's a solid arm with promise...

Luna & Sibrien also disappointing

Proud member since 2003 (geez ha I was 14 then)

FORMERLY BrewCrewWS2008 and YoungGeezy don't even remember other names used

Also missing:

C Kevin Martir

SS Orveo Saint

CF Tyrone Taylor

RHP Milton Gomez

RHP Devin Williams

RHP Nash Walters

RHP Victor Castaneda

LHP Nate Kirby

LHP Christian Trent

LHP Jake Drossner

RHP Chase Williams

Obviously some injuries in there, maybe the Castaneda signing fell through. We'll track them all down over the next few days.

Didn't see it mentioned anywhere else. Apologies if I missed it, but Blake Fox had shoulder surgery about two weeks ago and is out for the remainder of the season. Don't believe it was TJ as he termed it a "minor procedure", but serious enough that he won't be back until Spring Training.

Tucked into Friday's Biloxi Media Notes was this --

On Friday, the Brewers signed RHP Travis Hissong to a minor league contract and sent RHP Wuilder Rodríguez back to Carolina.

Hissong was released by the Yankees organization on Tuesday after going 2–1 with a 4.73 ERA between Double-A Trenton and Advanced-A Tampa.

***

As you'll see via the MiLB Player Page link from above, the 25-year-old Hissong is in his 4th pro year, originally signed as a non-drafted player (out of Wright State University) by the Yankees. Eighty of his 81 appearances have been as a reliever, 26 at the AA level.

Hissong has a protected Twitter account.

Does Stearns manage all these moves or does someone else? I can't imagine David has the time to keep track of over 100 minor leaguers and who should be moving up or down, outside of the top prospects.

100? Try in the neighborhood of 250. I doubt he is involved in every move but I'd bet he's consulted on the bigger names.

but it's not like every guy suddenly forgot every piece of advice he gave

To make room for Rodriguez at Carolina, little-used OF Brandon Diaz (despite a recent HR) was placed on the Mudcats "DL", retroactive to 6/22.

Sky Sox will need to make transactions involving two position players when Jett Bandy and Lewis Brinson officially report to the club, likely Tuesday or Wednesday.

The Sky Sox roster currently has just 12 pitchers, so that won't be reduced.

Also, there are already three catchers on the roster, so it's conceivable two catchers among Andrew Susac, Rene Garcia, and Tyler Heineman could be placed on another roster or a phantom DL.

At Wisconsin, LHP Cameron Roegner was officially transferred from the Helena paper roster today to make his Sunday tandem appearance, which turned out to be four perfect innings, by the way.

To make room, RHP David Burkhalter, coming off two scoreless innings on Saturday, was placed on the 7-day DL. Make of that what you will, keep in mind Burkhalter opened his season on May 5th after missing much of 2016 with an elbow strain, and this could be a way of controlling his innings.
