Why has Colorado Springs been maintaining a 27 man roster? Per their website they have 16 pitchers and 11 hitters on thei roster.

Blazek gets three days to report, and my guess is that Scahill is not technically active yet either.

That's tough, and a little sad, Brandon Diaz had SOOOOOOOOOO much upside, and once he was brought up to highA it seem like the Brewers plan with him was to make sure his ABs were as sporadic as possible in favor of guys who were minor league filler... wish him the best, hopefully he continues with baseball and finds consistent playing time wherever he lands!

I remember getting into a debate with IIRC TheCrew07 when they drafted him; I thought he had upside, TheCrew07 thought he was too small, and initially I was right but lately he was. Diaz struggled pretty badly last year, and this year he was caught behind Ray, Clark, Stokes, and Harrison, but more importantly was hurt most of the year.

Milwaukee releases a pair of Helena Brewers, as per the Pioneer League transactions page.

21-year-old OF Yerald Martinez was in his 5th pro season. The Dominican native and RH bat with a 6'2", 180 frame (listed) clubbed 10 home runs in 52 games with Helena in 2016, and added five more in 26 games this summer, keeping up his power pace. But maintaining contact, drawing walks, and avoiding strikeouts have been career issues, certainly common among young farmhands with Martinez' profile.

24-year-old Dominican RHP Juan Diaz was a 4th year Brewer, and has struggled to a 1.82 WHIP in 11 relief appearances this summer. Career numbers at the link.

That's not surprising, too much potential to not take a chance in

Per his own tweet, Tristen Lutz has been promoted to Helena.

And as Mass Haas mentioned in the link report yesterday, Gabe Friese is joining him.

Probably bodes well for Lutz breaking camp with the Rattlers next spring.

Joining Tristen Lutz in Helena, up from Maryvale, are 22-year-old 36th round IF/OF Kenny Corey (and his 1.068 OPS), and 25-year-old undrafted RHP Cameron Hanes, who saw limited action in five relief appearances.

Also look for 25th round high school LHP Karlos Morales to officially hit the Maryvale roster soon.

In addition to the prior Helena roster crunch that has since been alleviated a bit, the organization likely waited a bit for the A-Crew in Maryvale to clinch the first-half title, before bumping players up.

In 2001, a 19-year-old Venezuelan RHP named Jesus Chirinos spent his only professional season in the Brewers' system, posting more than adequate numbers (Baseball Reference).

Now, sixteen years later, the Brewers have signed Chirinos' son, a 16-year-old also named Jesus. Here's the translated text from this webpage.

Jesús Chirinos, a native of the town of Machango, Valmore Rodríguez municipality of Zulia state, was signed by MLB Milwaukee Brewers and the Zulia Eagles of the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League.

Cristóbal Arguello announced the information, looking for talents from the Aguiar and Barboza Baseball Academy based in Nueva Bolivia, Mérida state.

Chirinos, 16, resides next to its parents Jesus Chirinos (who also was prospect of Great Leagues with the Brewers) and Yulselis Matos de Chirinos in the town of Machango, Zulia state and was formed in the School of Baseball January 23, Where he was discovered by Cristóbal Arguello and Adilson Chirinos who assigned him to Academy A and B of New Bolivia where he finished his preparation before stamping his signature with the professional ball.

Jesus Chirinos, is the third native player of Machango and discovered by Academy A and B, to be signed for the Great Tent, since earlier Irwin Chirinos with Detroit Tigers and Miguel Torres with the Yankees.

One figures Chirinos might debut next spring with the just-signed July 2nd international draft class.

But then again, when the Brewers signed RHP Michele Vassalotti in June at age 16, he debuted shortly thereafter in the Dominican Summer League. By the way, Vassalotti, impressive thus far, just turned 17 yesterday (August 2nd).
