2017 Green Bay Packers draft preview and predictions

LouisEly
there are good players on the board that can help the packers this season, i wouldn't take that deal from the pats, with the possibility that you will only pick one spot higher in 2018. I would be fine if the packers moved down to the mid to late 30's to get a 3rd or 4th this season, though.

I want King to be the pick. I'm not enamored with Cook, I like Kamara a little bit better. Could live with Lamp, Tyus Bowser is ceiling interesting, I would be unhappiest with McDowell. I'm good with a trade down. We really need some quantity at positions.

This being said, I expect to be disappointed.

I don't get the love for Lamp. Out of all the things we could be doing picking a guard with our top pick seems questionable.

I think I want King to be the pick. Feels like we always play teams with tall elite recievers. King could really match up well against those kind of guys. I won't mind Wilson or Awuzie either. Outside of that not really enamoured with any CB at the #33 pick.

One rumor is the Packers are considering Kizer. I will throw a brick through my computer if they take a QB with a 1.2 round pick. No, just no.

I would think the Pack has leaked plenty of rumors that they are looking at Kizer. He is the "prize" that teams will fight over. Let's get someone to give up a haul for him...and then take one of the CBs a few picks later!

I have a feeling one of the three remaining RBs (Cook, Kamara or Mixon) will be one of the Packers picks in round 2, and could be a reason they moved down with all three available and three other RBs already being selected in the 1st round. It reminds me of the year they took Lacy when they moved down for similar reasons and still had both Monte Ball and Lacy fall to their late 2nd rounder.

I don't follow this kind of thing, but what other teams out there still have RB has one of their top needs? I would imagine that is a very short list.

After the Packers signed Evans I don't see them going for a OG, at least not this early, although from what I've read about Lamp he looks to be about as ready of a plug-and-play player as there is, especially at this spot.

I HOPE we somehow finish the day with a CB, RB, and either a guard or a pass rusher.

I'll take a stab at how they accomplish this:

33 - Quincy Wilson (50% this gets traded which puts a wretch in the plan) I do like King, but i don't think Ted thought that Wilson would be around at 29 or 33.

60 - D'Onta Foremen

93- Kendell Beckwith

4 picks out...2 guards (Dixon, Feeney) are still on the board, as is Kamara the RB from Tennessee, and Awuzie if they want another CB.

(NFL Network reported Saints were willing to offer a 2018 2nd to move back into the round. I could see TT taking that action, if it's still available.)

I don't get the complaining about drafting DL. It is the end of the 3rd round for crying out loud.

It's just so unnecessary. The Packers need a single Howard Green occupying NT and that man can be found at the end of free agency or training camp every single season. The reverse pecking order of the positions these days basically goes Fullback, Punter, Nose Tackle, Placekicker and yet the Packers seem to think they need to draft a 13.5 tackle interior defensive lineman in the top 100 every single season. Just disgusting.

Considering our Defensive injury history, this is a great depth pick. WalterFootball lists him #5 for a DT and projected 2-3rd round. ESPN had him 102nd, with little to none of need above him.

Josh Jones also a 2-3 on Walter. ESPN had him 43rd overall.

King 1-2 on Walter. ESPN had him as 22nd overall.

Going great honestly, value and needs.

Desmond King from Iowa in the 4th? Can help the return game and possibly all over the def. backfield.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

We let the good RB's all slip away with the last two picks. IMO it's pretty much all slow or tiny ones left. De'veon Smith is about all that interests me...needed 1 of Mixon/Foreman/Kamara/Connor.
