Devin Williams is one of my favorite sleeper prospects in deep @Brewers system. Love the upside but he'll miss 2017 b/c he needs TJ surgery.

At least he's having it soon as opposed to dinking around attempting to rehab it, at which point it seems the player misses closer to 2 years when it turns out they have to go under the knife anyway.

How does this work in terms of Rule 5 protection? Drafted 2013 only reached high A ball. Do the Brewers gain a year before having to protect him from the rule 5? Or will he need protection as others in his draft class hit that mark? Is it 2018 after this season or 2019? Im at the point, he's a lost cause and wont make the Majors until hes near 30. That's if hes groomed to Starter. Moving him to Bullpen maybe 3 but likely 4years if he makes it.
