2017 Spring Training Rosters

The Brewers' Player Development Twitter account posted the complete minor league spring training roster.

 

Names missing among those players who saw action in stateside ball last year, and whom last we knew had contracts with the Brewers:

 

• Wilson Adams
  Johel Atencio
  Jomar Cortes
  Junior Flores
  Emerson Gibbs
  Yosmer Leal (did not play stateside, but was kept on AZL roster, apparently injured)
  Chris McFarland
  Julio Mendez
  Chad Nading (indy league signing this offseason - update: never did sign)
  Ignacio Otano
  Nic Pierre (ended season in DSL after rare in-season demotion from AZL)
  Nicol Valderrey
  

 

The only player who played all season in the DSL who is on the spring training roster is Jose Sibrian.

 

We'll try to track down what's going on with the guys on the list.

LHP Cesar Jimenez, who was claimed from Philadelphia in August of 2015 and then appeared in 16 games with the Crew down the stretch that year, is back in minor league camp this spring.

 

In November 2015, Jimenez was outrighted and became a minor league free agent.

 

The Brewers re-signed him in January 2016, but he would then sit out the entirety of the 2016 season with a family/personal issue.

 

So the 32-year-old Jimenez is once again a name to watch among AAA LH relievers (Stephen Peterson, Andy Oliver, Nick Ramirez, Andy Oliver, Andrew Barbosa if he does not join Wei-Chung Wang among starting candidates).
