Also, Fingers meant a lot to the 81 and 82 teams, two playoff teams. Without him, there is no playoffs EITHER year, I'd argue. Yet, he is a relief pitcher first of all.

 

Yeah, but back then, he also pitched quite a few 1+ innings to get those saves. Fingers had quite a few clean up the mess and then stay in for the next inning stints.

I think I side with the players belong to the city. I could never imagine Oklahoma City retiring Ray Allen's number. Even as a fan say the Diamondbacks moved to Milwaukee. I wouldn't consider Randy Johnson or Luis Gonzalez or any of their greats as a Milwaukee great. I never would have cheered for them.
