Actual results: (so far)

Brewers record: 29-25

Playoffs: YES

Brewers MVP: Thames

Brewers Cy Young: Gotta be Chase Anderson, right?

Brewers Rookie of the Year: Who is even eligible? Espino, Suter, and Barnes? So it'd have to be Barnes.

First player traded: Magnifico

Surprise player: Thames

Disappointing player: Villar

World Series: Astros over??

ROY can't be a reliever, not in this bullpen.

Brewers Record: 86-76

Playoffs: Yes

Brewers MVP: Ryan Braun

Brewers CY Young: Wily Peralta

Brewers ROY: Josh Hader

First player traded: Villar

Surprise player: Brandon Woodruff

Disappointing player: Travis Shaw

World Series: Red Sox over Cubs

I think that the Brewers will surprise this year. A lot of youth, and I see a setback for the Cardinals/Pirates. I think Hader is the ROY, possibly in a closer role. I think Woodruff is up early, and a steady pitcher for the year. Not flashy, but good, a la Davies. I think Peralta found his groove, and goes on a run. I think Braun is Braun. I think the team tires of Villar, and moves him, even though he plays well. I think Shaw becomes the new Wes Helms, a placeholder. Not so much disappointing, but I think the team will overachieve, and he'll be back in the pack. Won't be surprised if Perez winds up as the everyday 3B. I think Santana stays healthy, and that Arcia is ok.

Way off on some of my predictions, but I'd love to see a sweep to be one short!

Brewers Record: 83-79

Playoffs: No

Brewers MVP: Braun

Brewers CY Young: Junior Guerra

Brewers ROY: Hader

First player traded: Garza

Surprise player: Arcia

Disappointing player: Nobody

World Series: Indians over Cubs

2 games left and they've surpassed my prediction by two wins already. I think I was correct on Hader being the ROY, and Arcia has been a pleasant surprise. Missed on other picks. Sticking with my prediction of the Indians being WS champs....

I thought 83 wins, but could move either way depending on trades or injuries. I really thought Guerra would regress, but be solid. Now he's a total DFA candidate. Starting him today gave us no chance. But I also thought Nelson and Peralta were ready for breakout seasons. I really like our lineup heading into next year.

C: Pina, other

1b: Thames, Aguilar

2b: Walker?

SS: Arcia

3b: Shaw

LF: Braun

CF: Broxton/Phillips

RF: Santana

UT: Villar, Perez (IF and OF positions)

We need to figure out 2b. I think Perez could be dealt if someone things he can start, although I think we're fine with holding him for another year as a super-sub then dealing him (imagine if we could have dealt Hall before he lost his value). I think Villar has a bounce back and earns more 2b playing time.

I wish I would have bit on this thread. It would be fun to see and laugh at my predictions. Next year.

This thread is great perspective for us today. After we indulge some brief lamentation in the could haves and would haves of 0f 2017, let us not forget that this was all in all a very good season. There is indeed plenty to be excited about for 2018.

Brewers record: 75-87

Team MVP: Braun

Team Cy Young: Davies (Rotation)

Team Rolaids: Suter (takes closer role by mid-season)

Brewers ROY: Suter (see Team Rolaids winner)

First traded: Garza (spring training)

Surprise player: Thames (becomes excellent middle of the order bat)

Disappointing: Susac/Bandy (we will miss Lucroy)

Prospects who rocket up the list: Ronnie Gideon (75 power tool), Weston Wilson (versatility and power bat)

Disappointing prospects: Meideros, Kirby

Off on MVP (probably Santana/Shaw), called the Cy Young, missed Rolaids because Suter earned a rotation spot (and probably is the rookie pitcher of the year), and did call Thames putting up good middle-order numbers even though he batted 2nd a lot this year.

And the prospects had me thrown off as well.

Pleased that the Crew exceeded my record prediction by 10 wins. I think overall, Counsell made the most of the roster. Was worried he might not after the November 2016 town hall... but pleased to find out the worries were unfounded.

Brewers Record: 75-89

Playoffs: No

Brewers MVP: Braun

Brewers CY Young: Davies

Brewers ROY: Arcia

First player traded: Scooter

Surprise player: Susac

Disappointing player: Villar

World Series: Red Sox over Mets

-10 wins more, I’ll take it!

-Braun wasn’t MVP unless it was of the IR list

-Davies was Cy Young if we use 1980’s standards

-I think we could make the case for Arcia being ROY

-Scooter wasn’t traded, flat out let go.

-Susac was a surprise... surprisingly horrible.

-Red Sox may win it but it won’t be over the Mets.

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Here's my best guess:

Brewers record: 66-96

Playoffs: No

Team MVP: Braun

Team Cy Young: Davies

Team ROY: Jorge Lopez

First Player Traded: Wily

Surprise Player: Travis Shaw

Disappointing Player: Eric Thames

World Series:

Nats over Astros

Boom! Nailed it!

My baseball knowledge is awesome!

I missed badly on W/L. I didn't expect anything out of their pitching and was happily surprised.

I stumbled into the Travis Shaw pick, but I'll take that win.

It doesn't seem like the Jorge Lopez era is upon us. Still hope he finds some MLB success.

Brewers Record: 73-89

Playoffs: No

Brewers MVP: Braun

Brewers CY Young: Guerra

Brewers ROY: Brinson

First player traded: Feliz at the trading deadline

Surprise player: Arcia (hits a lot better than last season)

Disappointing player: Santana

World Series: Indians over Nats

World Series Pick still in play! I think I can still take my Surprise player as a win. And sadly playoffs "no" was correct.

Everything else, not so much.

Off on MVP (probably Santana/Shaw), called the Cy Young

Davies over Nelson and Chase Anderson for pitcher of the year?

Davies was healthy all season, and he's lead the league in wins.

Anderson and Nelson both missed time with injuries this season.

Brewers Record: 81-81 (BOLD!)

Playoffs: No

Brewers MVP: Braun

Brewers CY Young: Zach Davies

Brewers ROY: Josh Hader

First player traded: Garza

Surprise player: Villar is replaced by Hernan Perez in the starting lineup by July (BOLD!)

Disappointing player: Villar, obviously

World Series: sigh. Cubs over who cares. I'm not watching that happen again.

I wasn't bold enough!!! But i was right about Villar. How on earth did Garza make the whole season with the team? Hader was definitely the ROY. Knebel was the CY, and he should get some actual CY votes, but Ace Chanderson and Jimmy Nelson were great, and both better than Davies, even though he was excellent for a young starter. Braun aged. I'd call MVP Shaw, but Santana was the better player down the stretch for sure.
