Miscellaneous Farmhand Spring Training Camp Notes

Mass Haas
Outside of big camp, Gatewood is looking like he's really starting to fill out into his body! If he can make contact more consistently, power could really come through big!

Tweets via FanGraphs' Eric Longenhagen:

Lewis Brinson has hit a ball 450ft (HR) and run a 4.15 to first so far tonight.

Marcos Diplan 91-94, command & slider both inconsistent. Didn't see changeup because he didn't get into favorable count

***

Brad Krause of Miller Park Prospects:

Marcos Diplan tosses four shutout innings to close things out and the Brewers win 3-0.

Mauricio Dubon with a leadoff triple and Lewis Brinson crushes a two-run bomb on a fastball in from Drew Gagnon for a 2-0 Brewers lead in Tempe.

The combined AAA/AA team won 2-1 behind Jimmy Nelson. Solo home runs from Nick Noonan and Art Charles accounted for the only Brewers runs.

Didn't see the score of the Carolina game but Lucas Erceg put on a defensive show at third base, making several nice barehanded plays.

Three scoreless innings for Aaron Wilkerson thus far. Only one hit allowed and five strikeouts.

I have still no idea what is going on with the pitchers, but if feels like with the exception of maybe one bench spot, the AAA-A+ rosters are pretty predictable right now. Of the main bubble players, Dubon looks like he's headed to AA instead of AAA and Clark and Gatewood are headed to A+ instead of A. And with Mehring's podcasts making it sound like Lara is a lock for Wisconsin, the biggest bubble hitter looks to be Orimoloye. He's been playing a lot with Wisconsin, but wasn't mentioned in either of the discussions, which pretty much only alluded to Harrison as being a lock for the Rattler outfield.

Nothing's official until the Brewers/Rattlers say so, but looks like indy ball signee RHP Luke Barker (or someone Barker knows) gave an indication to his former college that he'll be on the Wisconsin roster (tweet).

Barker recently turned 25, but this will be his affiliated ball debut. Don't roll your eyes, ask Mike Fiers about that age and timeline...

Harrison will start in Wisconsin (assuming) but if he comes out and hits the way he has in spring and was the month before the injury, it should be a quick stay. Think they just want to get his feet under him, get him healthy, and get him hot. There is room for him in Carolina. Clark and Ray are the only two priority OFs. With DH and days off, Stokes can still play nearly every day. Im hoping that is the way it works out. A locked in Harrison makes that Carolina Offense even more terrifying. I've said it for 2 years now, Harrison is Rickie Weeks. When he is on, he is one of the best players across the board on a baseball diamond. When he is off, yikes..... Then the injuries consistently slowing him down.

Wow to the Kodi video! That was lively and nasty stuff! Hopefully he can put everything together this season.
