Things to do in Biloxi, MS

Jeanette and I are planning a vacation for later this spring and we are looking to BF for suggestions to maximize our trip.

After visiting her family in Missouri, we plan on going to Huntsville to visit the US Space and Rocket Center before arriving in Biloxi on May 30. We'll be in town thru June 3, when we detour into Florida for a couple of days before heading home June 4.

While in Biloxi we'll be attending Shuckers games on May 30, May 31, June 1 and June 2. Any thoughts on getting a hotel in Biloxi? We aren't looking for anything fancy, and something close to the park would be handy. Also, any suggestions or tips for the games? I see tickets aren't on sale yet, so any thoughts would be great.

Also, does anyone have any suggestions for things to do in Biloxi or New Orleans? We'll have lots of free time outside the games, and other than planning a day in New Orleans we don't have any set plans.

Any information anyone can provide would be great!

Thanks!

Chris

Casinos are a huge part of Biloxi. There's a giant hotel/casino that you can see from MGM Park (Beau Rivage). There's also a Hard Rock hotel and casino just down Beach Blvd. There are also smaller hotels right across the street from MGM Park and based on your post, it seems like you might want those.

You could do a day trip to Ship Island

When you are in Florida check to see if the Blue Angels are doing a practice in Pensacola. It's free and you get to watch the practice from the runway. I've seen it several times and everytime I'm amazed. Plus the Museum is fantastic.

In New Orleans make sure you get a Muffaletta from the Central Grocer.

Thanks for the tips! I knew I could count on BF.net to fill in some gaps for us, so we'll have lots of choices when we are down there.

I had to google "Muffaletta", but that looks awesome. We found a couple of places for good, but we can always use more suggestions.

Thank you again!

Chris

My wife and I are also planning on heading to Biloxi that same week to celebrate our 1 year anniversary. We're planning on staying at Beau Rivage as well and catching a Shuckers game or two.
This is Jack Burton in the Pork Chop Express, and I'm talkin' to whoever's listenin' out there.
