People who agree to purchase something from you, setting up dates to meet, etc., only to have them back out on you. They are the ones that respond to craigslist, VarageSale, etc., yet they change their mind and don't bother telling you.

 

Just plain rude.

 

Worse is the people who agree to sell or you show interest just for them to go into the dark. Probably finding some better offer or get cold feet.

It is absolutely NOT illegal to use social media posts as a reason not to hire someone, or fire them. Unless you use that as a reason to discriminate against someone that falls into one of the protected classes.

 

I don't know of any company who doesn't check out someone's social media as part of the interview process. In my opinion, I really don't hold things against someone for stuff they posted in HS or college. I may ask about it, but for the most part I chalk it up to young people do and say stupid things, I know I did.

 

If it's more recent activity though, sure, I ding people all the time. I don't this of course, but in theory I could choose not to hire someone for being a Cubs fan. Nothing illegal about that.

Or, I've had this happen. Agree to a price through email, show up to sell the item, and dude wants to negotiate the price some more. I said "sorry, I don't have time for this," got in my car and drive away. At that point I got more pleasure out of driving off than seeing if he would still take it for the price we agreed to up front.

When you get a text message telling you that a package that you have to sign for will be delivered the next day, and you stay home the entire day and by 7:40pm they still aren't there yet, and tracking the package still (at 7:40pm) says it will be delivered by end of day, but when you call they say it will be delivered tomorrow and they did NOT send you a text message telling you that.

When you get a text message telling you that a package that you have to sign for will be delivered the next day, and you stay home the entire day and by 7:40pm they still aren't there yet, and tracking the package still (at 7:40pm) says it will be delivered by end of day, but when you call they say it will be delivered tomorrow and they did NOT send you a text message telling you that.

 

Make use of your local UPS Store and/or FedEx Office. I'm an apartment dweller and I'm most likely not going to be home on a weekday during business hours, even if a signature isn't required there are some things I don't want laying out in front of my door for anyone with building access to take.

 

Once you have tracking info, log in to their website to track and click change delivery address. More often than not you can have them deliver to a UPS/FedEx store for free, that way you can pick it up and sign for it on your time.

 

If it's USPS then it's not always as easy but I think there are similar workarounds to that also.

 

Edit: Still sucks in your case since you were able to be home, I was kind of reading it as you took off work to wait for your package but that may not have been the case.

I might not remember the exact phrasing as I was likely barely paying attention. Maybe it was just out of a don't do it type of thing just to eliminate the possibility of some BS. I don't recall for sure I guess how it was presented. But the fuss they were making about it seems like legislation in some states seems to be going down that line. I see how it goes, someone makes a fuss because they weren't hired for anything (religion, being pro or anti trump, gun rights, whatever controversial thing) and then you have to deal with it. But I guess I don't remember for sure and even still it might just be one of those things HR has to say even though they know it's still going to happen.

Saw something online today of a UPS package being left. Then a car driving by and noticing it sitting there. Woman gets out to steal it. it's kind of a rainy so after like 3 steps she slips and breaks her leg. You can see it bent wrong like when it happens in basketball or football, boyfriend hops out and carries her to the car. Karma is a B I guess. Being online, who knows if it was doctored but it all seemed legit.

DHL. Not only is there no facility anywhere near me, they also don't give you a delivery window. Wish it was FedEx (6 blocks from my house) or USPS (4 blocks from my house).

When my wife texts me a question, if I don't respond in like three minutes she will start sending strings of question marks. I assume that she thinks it will get me to answer quicker. The reason I'm not responding is because I don't have my phone on me. So the question marks do nothing.

I had just the opposite with my ex-wife. She would text me a question, to which I would answer immediately (within seconds) and ask a follow up question. Of course, I would get no response. I always wondered if she hit "send" and then threw her phone.

Jericho, my wife is similar, but yet her phone is always on silent so when I text her, and it's often a half hour or longer before I get a response.

 

My wife has not really bought into technology making lives easier. It's quite common for us to go somewhere and she either forgets her phone or consciously leaves it at home because "you're with me, so I don't need it." This has led to us, many times, getting separated in stores and wandering around aimlessly looking for each other. She actually went to customer service and had me paged once...that really irritated me. Yet there was a day where I was outside at home and my phone was left inside. She tried to call me for some reason then started yelling at me for not having my phone on me. She quickly stopped when I reminded her about her needing to page me because she didn't have her phone.

Baseball related, but every time Haudricourt or McCalvy tweet about a Brewers player being optioned frequently, someone responds wondering how close that player is to having "all their options" used up. I get that options are somewhat complicated, but wouldn't typing "how to MLB options work" into Google be more efficient than outing yourself as an idiot?

My daughter is a junior in high school. Her prom is the Friday before memorial day. She plays softball and the second round game would be on the same day as Prom (if they win). WIAA says they won't let the game be moved to Thursday and the other school "graciously" moved the game from 4:30 to 4:00.

 

I'm pissed because why did the school schedule this forcing my daughter to choose? This isn't the first time it happened at this school! Damn! What a bunch of jerks!!!!!!

We have that problem too. I usually just tell my kids to go to prom and I'll fill the lineup(tennis) with other kids. However, ours is typically just a tournament, not playoffs or sectionals or anything major.

 

NHL plays their playoff games every other day. Cleveland and Boston played game 2 Tuesday and game 3 is Saturday. Lol.

I gave up smoking a week ago and its been intensely difficult. You realize right away within the first few days how much of your life revolved around that next cigarette.

 

I keep pictures of my kids around when things get especially difficult to look at and remind myself of why I am doing this.

Good for you man. I've never smoked, so I can't imagine what you're going through, but I do have an addictive personality and understand addiction itself. When my mom quit she used to keep suckers and stuff around at all times. Helped keep her mind off of having that next smoke. Good luck!
