Storen has always been solid in a closer role, for some reason, mentally he shuts down it appears when he is moved out of that spot to set-up man. I think Brewers would be one of the most attractive jobs out their for any of these guys. All guys who most teams will not give them an opportunity to close, but most are proven, and bounce back guys who can net something nice in this market. Storen comes in and pitches liek Storen, well by mid-season or next off-season who have a really nice trade piece. For for, it is an opportunity to close again and prove his worth. For Brewers, you are stablizing your bullpen and adding trade value if he hits. I'd also sign Feliz. We have money and opportunity...

Is Nelson+Scooter worth anything in trade? I'd have to think Scooter's value is almost negligible relative to his salary, no idea where Nelson is at now after that year.

Chase is probably more tradeable, to me, than Nelson. Tough to sell that low on Nelson after what he looked like the first couple month last year.

Don't you think other teams saw Nelson the first couple months of 2016? It wasn't the only good stretch he's had either. Teams know the talent is there. His struggles the second half of 2016 aren't going to scare them all away. Nelson would likely thrive not having to be "the guy". Teams view Nelson as a talent but lacking the mental toughness to be a top of a rotation starter. Put him in the 4th spot in a good rotation, and he could really blossom. I don't think he'll fulfill his promise as a Brewer and now's the time to get what you can.

Which teams question Nelson's mental toughness? I don't recall reading that anywhere. Also, if he can really blossom as a #4 starter, why wouldn't the Brewers keep him? Because if that's true, would make sense to lock him up long term for a cheap price, and he can blossom as they build a better 1-3 in the next couple years?

Still a tie to Greg Holland who would be playing post TJ surgery that sat him out all of 2016.

2years that provides an opt out. One would probably guess something like 2/12million 5.5/6.5. And obviously if he pitched to his lights out prior to 2015 season would opt out and seek the 12mil+FA type of deals these types are getting.

Now, you wonder if he opts out, can you QO him? Problem being he'll be 31 turning 32 for the 2018 season.

Of any reliever available on FA market, he easily presents the highest ceiling. Of the teams tied in to him, Milwaukee would present the most leeway in salary. He earned 8.25mil in 2016 in what appears to be his 2nd year Arb? maybe his 1st but odd he made 4.6mil in 2014 w/o it being an arb season.

If he were to come out and be lights out clearly paving the expectation of opting out, you trade him in July and likely get a great piece back. If he's at his 2015 self which is still fairly good to expect a bounceback more in 2018 you've got a closer experienced on the cheaper side for 2 years. His Fip has pretty much always been lower than ERA and was just 3.27 in 2015 and career sits at 2.23. That's pretty stellar.

I think the risk is worth the reward in this instance to pay an extra million or 2 per year than what he's being offered by other teams to entice him to sign with Milwaukee.

I believe you can. I think that's what happened with Cespedes in New York.
