What's bugging you? (2016)

The incredibly condescending University of Phoenix commercial that says you're stupid and lazy if you don't have a degree and you're stupid if you don't hire someone with a degree.

The Craig Council/Counsell commecial after every inning of the Brewers games. I believe it is an Associated Bank commercial. The Brewers need to find a couple of more sponsors so we can get some variety.

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

That commercial is pretty awful. If someone has a brain they wouldn't go to the University of Phoenix that is for sure.

So is your post. That's ridiculously condescending!! It's helped millions of people, especially military personnel, get their undergraduate degrees. Additionally, that's the only affordable option that many of my fellow teachers have been able to utilize in order to continue their learning while working full-time.

I'd like to make "wooing" at ballgames a crime that banishes you from all MLB events with a $500 fine. It's made games in Pittsburgh and especially Cincinnati unbearable. I have to watch all the games in these parks on mute, especially tonight. I've heard it at Washington and Philly as well.

My wife and I went to see the new Captain America movie tonight. $20 for two tickets. Not terrible but still a little pricey. 2 minutes before the movie starts a large group comes in. Looked like 3 adults, a teen, two younger kids maybe 8 or 9...........and two infants, clearly under one. When they walked past us my wife and just looked at each like "wonderful". Sure enough within five minutes of the movie starting one of the infant starts doing what an infant does. Whines. Cries. Makes cute, but loud, little baby noises. Everyone in our section is annoyed as hell. You can tell by how often everyone turns around to look. Finally one of the adults takes the kid out. Then the other one starts. Crying. Whining. Fussing. Goes on for at least 20 minutes. Theater staff actually had to ask them to leave. I don't blame the kid obviously because they don't know better but who the hell brings two infants with them into an adult movie? Is it necessary to ruin it for everyone else because you can't find or can't afford it just don't want to get a sitter? And are you really so dense that you can't tell when you are annoying the crap out of everyone?

I haven't been to a movie theater in a while but all these stories of selfish people never thinking of others sure doesn't make me want to go to one. I have a good setup at home and there's no movie good enough I can't wait until it's on video.

I haven't had many problems with people at the theater. It helps to go early in the morning. Plus, it is $5 at the Sun Prairie theater for any movie that start before noon.

Fan is short for fanatic.

I blame Wang.

The constant plugs on FSN about the Andy Grammar concert at Miller Park. I have never heard of him, and the samples of his music they are playing in the commercial make me cringe. Today's pop music is just so bad.

...and while I'm at it, the Pottawatomie commercials are becoming unbearable. It is going to be a long season if they plan to play the same commercials over and over the entire summer...

Keeping an aquarium is expensive, and mine is only 55 gallons. $120 for a new filter after my old one crapped out. But the new one is supposed to be quite something and I've got a persistent algae problem that I can't use chemicals for since I have snails and shrimp. I think because it's the prominent feature of my living room I'm willing to go a little further to make sure it looks nice.

A random and probably stupid question: I'm trying to attract more birds to my house. I'm right on a lake, so is a birdbath necessary?

And "eats like a bird" really isn't an accurate metaphor (simile?) for eating little. It should really mean "eating a heck of a lot and making a complete mess."

At the last game we attended (May 2), I remarked to the SO that the good thing about our not having another game until May 15 was that we'd be spared the Andy Grammer clips between so, so many innings.

Then we realized they're showing them about as often between innings on the TV broadcasts. :( I hadn't heard of him before this concert was announced, but man, do I remember the snippets of those three songs now.

There was a WOO guy at Miller Park during the May 1 game. Dude put the hood on his hoodie up after a while. It didn't help.

I'm good at ignoring commercials on TV and on the scoreboard. The Andy Grammar ad on brewers.com bugs me, though. A while after the page loads, the Andy Grammar grows in size. If you're about to click on something, the content moves downward, forcing you to have to move with it — or possibly causing you to click on the wrong thing. This annoying technique was used previously with an All Star voting ad.

I want to apply for a couple new jobs but I need three letters of recommendation to apply, and one of them has to be from an administrator. I have asked, asked, and asked again, and they keep forgetting, even when I give them hard deadlines. I'm not sure if this is their attempt at keeping me at the school or if they are just really forgetful people, but it's really frustrating to not have the documentation I need to apply for jobs.

21+ movie theaters are the best. Might cost a couple dollars more, but well worth it for the assurance that kids won't ruin your movie. Plus assigned seats and alcoholic drinks!!!

Are there any around MKE that are 21+? I know there are a bunch that serve beer, however, in my experience, they are treated much the same way as a restaurant.... and still let the young ones in.

Its the general attitude by some that they are not going to change their lifestyles at all even if they have kids. They are still going to go out just as much as they always did after work or on weekends with the guys/girls. They are still going to be in two softball leagues and on a bowling team and they will bring there kids to places not really meant for kids if it will help them to continue on with the lifestyle they had before they had kids. There is no thought that having kids means having to make personal sacrifices and changes to your way of living. I sometimes see baby's (no more than 6-9 months old) at Brewer games. Many times the kids are quiet and as cute as can be and are not really a bother to anyone, but it just seems so dangerous and unnecessary. We sit in section 217 where foul balls frequently come over the net and sometimes with pretty good velocity. People will bring infants, bounce them up and down on their knees, and not pay attention at all to the game (why are you bringing you baby to a sporting event that you have no intention of watching anyways?!). One well placed foul ball and suddenly you have a very unfortunate situation. I have not seen any "direct hits" yet, but I have seen some very close calls.

I frequent a discount movie theater a couple miles away from me. There is no assigned seating, so its first come first served. What annoys me is the family of 5 or more that think they can waltz right into a popular movie (Star Wars cough cough) right at the last minute and think they will be able to sit together.

My work hosts a fireworks show. Despite the show clearly advertised as going off at 9:00 pm, it's amazing just how many people show up at 8:50, are shocked and mad that first they have to wait in line, and then extra-mad that they aren't able to just drive right up into the two best parking spaces. Some people just believe the world revolves around them.

Driving--Okay, I've previously stated my hatred of drivers that can't use turn signals for turns or lane changes. A more recent peeve is my frustration with people making left turns that choose to not pull out into the intersection. If they pull out into the intersection, then a) the turn is much shorter to get into the proper lane (the inner lane), and b) it allows another car behind them to enter the intersection to legally turn on yellow.

Another driving frustration is one I don't recall seeing in Wisconsin, but I see all the time in Arizona. People will be in the wrong lane, but then nearly cause a massive pile-up by fighting through traffic to get to far lane to turn into a strip mall. In Wisconsin people tended to realize they missed their opportunity, continue on, and then safely return to the correct location by making a series of legal, safe turns.

Interesting observations, DHonks.

I think part of the problem you're experiencing is that you live in an area that attracts drivers that were trained in a lot of different states. And left turn laws vary from state to state. The California Driver Handbook states that vehicles must remain behind the limit line until it's safe to make a turn. In Michigan, you must remain behind the limit line when there's a dedicated left turn lane, but you may pull into the intersection if there isn't one.

I agree that turning into the inner lane is generally the smartest and safest thing to do. However, according to driversed.com, doing so is only required in some states.

Here's an interesting article from Illinois:

Readers honked off over left-turn rule

It always comes down to safety versus efficiency. The safest thing to do is stay out of the intersection. The most efficient is to pull forward. Therein lies the dilemma. Do you want to do the safest thing or the most efficient thing?

It's especially interesting when it's my safety versus somebody else's efficiency.

If you're going to err, err on the side of safety. But you can't take safety so far that you're stopping all flow of traffic. It's situational.

So like most driving situations, there are rules and then there is the reality of what happens. If you're driving the posted speed limit, you are almost certainly the slowest car on the road. If you slow down to stop when the light turns yellow, you've angered the driver behind you.
