What's bugging you? (2016)

LouisEly
It's one thing to still have your Christmas lights up on January 31st, it's another thing to continue to have them plugged in and lit every night!

That would be me. Because I've been too lazy to take them down and keep forgetting to unplug the timer. We're the only house in the neighborhood with them still up. I'm pretty sure my neighbors took them down on December 26.

Mine are still up, but turned off. Most of them are buried in snow, so I need to wait for more to melt before I take them down.

This, I get. With the snow and wetness it's sometimes not easy to completely take them down until the weather improves a little. I just don't get the leaving them plugged in and turned on. What does it take, a minute to walk over and unplug them from the outlet when you get home from work or the grocery store (or just put your shoes on and go outside for 30 seconds)? Even if the outlet is in an inconvenient, snowy, wet location...maybe it takes an extra minute or two to put on boots and get to the outlet.

Thankfully, I don't believe I've ever heard anyone say that. Maybe I pick the right friends. :)

In certain contexts, such as a message board, I don't mind it in response when someone has used humor, but I don't like it when people LOL their own material.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

In the hawing household we have a saying for people who leave their obviously-Christmas greenery, like wreaths and roping, up too long:

When the wreath turns brown, it must come down! ;)

I think even Christmas stuff that's still green should be down, or at least off, by February. Don't try to sell me on "the red bow makes it okay for Valentine's Day!" NO. Wintery swag like snowflakes or snowmen, that's more acceptable. Santa should be stored by now.

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

I hate being sick. The feeling like crap wasn't enough but I've spent the last 3 days laying around watching TV and I feel like a completely useless human.

I will be hitting one week of sickness tomorrow. I can no longer sleep at night because my nose is so blocked up I can't breathe and when I blow it out it's now solid chunks of yellow- green, bloody grossness.

We had a discussion on nasal irrigation not too long ago. If you try that, make sure you follow the safety precautions. The main one is not to use tap water. Rather, it should be previously boiled or distilled.

I know exactly what you are talking about. This is an infection of some type, and a valid reason to get antibiotics. (Antibiotics do nothing for a "cold" and should never be taken for a "cold", but this isn't a cold.)

This morning I decided that I would go to the doctor tomorrow if I didn't feel better. Well, I've felt better all day today but I now have a sore throat which hadn't been an issue at all before. Also picked up a Neti Pot and used it a couple times. We'll see if that makes a difference.

Went to the doctor this morning. I've got an upper respiratory viral infection. He said right now the only thing I can do is let it runs it's course. Yay! My mom, who's a nurse, told me that it's going around and it's taking people 2 to 3 weeks to get over it. Double yay! I've only got a week or two before I get better.

Hard liquor. A virus is a living organism, and alcohol can kill living organisms, so if a viral organism absorbs a molecule of alcohol the viral organism will die. It's why the "Irish cure for a cold" (whiskey) really works. Get your BAC up high enough (but not too high) so that the alcohol in your blood steam will kill the viral organisms - try three or four shots an hour (depending on size/body weight) for 2-3 hours (or until you see two bottles) then go to bed. Do that a couple of times and you'll shorten the course of the infection.

Vodka with an orange juice chase (get some vitamin C) should be tolerable.

I'm sure this is partially tongue in cheek but since I don't drink I'm guessing I'd be black out drunk after one shot.

My oldest daughter, who is 4 and a half, has a birthday party to go to tomorrow. The invite did not include "do not bring gifts." Really? So this kid is going to get 24 presents from her day care friends?

Also, along those same line...she has been invited to way too many birthday parties for her age. Seems like parents are having huge parties for 3rd, 4th, and 5th birthdays.

What's bugging me is feeling helpless waiting on the news if I was hired or not for a job. At least they said they would call me no matter what, but I still have to endure the waiting process. I'm a very patient person and this is killing me.

I've found that even if they say they will call you it's about 50/50 that they will. So good luck with that.

I have 2 children and its really hard to get children to not want to get birthday gifts. They are kids after all. My wife and I go with our kids to show them where the donated food goes to the less fortunate every few months with our donations. We have gotten our kids to take donations of PB&J instead of gifts, but it took a lot of convincing.

We allow our 2 children to have the Birthday parties every other year, so that there is one per year. I like giving my kids the parties, because I never was able to have them when I was a child. We didn't have the money for that.

My niece has a birthday for her daughter every year and invites the whole family. We went to the first one, but not to any after that because A) we felt that there were gift expectations and B) just felt in general that it was unnecessary to have a party every year that involved the entire family.

We have one son who will be 18 in a few months. We had a family birthday party when he was 1 and I think his grandparents visited and gave him gifts when he was 2, 3, 4 (?), but not aunts, uncles, cousins, etc. In regards to friends, I don't remember the first birthday party he had with friends (3 or 4 - daycare?), but we limited it to about 7 or 8 kids and then we only allowed him to have birthday party every other year (usually at a bowling ally, lazer tag, the Y) or something like that.

What I'm not looking forward to is his grad party this summer. My wife and I are not good at planning things like that. We don't do a lot of hosting.

My Luck is bugging me. If you hadn't figured out, I work as a traveling caddy. Much of my income is based on tips. Currently, I'm working at a private club where you work for members and most of the time you have a good idea what's coming because of their history what they give. Some it's 20, 25, 30, 40, 50, 60 and then 100. Don't usually get between 60-100. There's a core of members who give 100. I've been down here for last 2 seasons(currently month 11 of 12 total) and not had the luck of falling on 9 outta 10 of these core 100 tippers. I continuously get the 20, 25 tippers. Caddy ahead 100 tipper, caddy behind 100 tipper. I fall on the garbage 20 tipper right in between. Arrive earlier, late. Sit and wait. Do 36holes. Doesn't matter. Why say it's bugging me?

We have a guy we call Mike the Mouth. He's new this season. Guy in 3+months has probably landed on these 100tippers 20 times already. 1 now requests him. Happened on the 4th time he fell on his bag....I've never had him. Guy's first 2months got him 4 times and in his 3years being a member, I've never caddied for him. This luck I know is costing me easily 1thousand a month and in the Mouth's instance, he'll make more than 2500 than me this month and the guy is a terrible caddy...Mouth nickname on a golf course is not what you want be nicknamed. A number of members refuse to let him carry their bag because of his annoying mouth. It's just frustrating because I've built such a repoire with the members, nobody looks at me and says find me another caddy. It's just these 100 tippers don't know me because they had me oh that one time back in 2013. To seriously go almost a full calendar year not caddying for this core of members when they play 3-4times a week 75% of the season is beyond unlucky. I'm the Jean Segura of caddies. nothing but singles. No triples or HR 18. This guy bats 3 for 6 on the week with HRs. And this has happened to me after the bullit year I've endured through.
