Tyson Ross

adambr2

Was non-tendered by the Padres, carries a 3.64 career ERA and even better FIP (3.38). At his best he is near ace quality, but he missed most of 2016 because of injury. Prior to that he had full dominant seasons around 200 innings for the Padres in 2015 and 2014.

If you're looking to buy low on a starting pitcher and take a chance on the risk/reward, the reward ceiling is about as high as you can possibly get for the money.

Ross is a pitcher that EVERY OTHER MLB CLUB should be calling (including the Brewers).

It will be interesting which club he decides to sign with. Some clubs (Indians and Pirates for example) have good reputations of helping pitchers rehab and get their game back on track. Would not be surprised if that plays into the decision process. Don't rule out a reunion with Buddy Black as Bud helped manage Ross to his greatest successes....

Tough choice only because of his injury. Had a surgery for his shoulder, and I'm unsure when he'd be able to pitch for the season. MLBTR says no trades materialized with a 9.6Million price tag. Which seems to me that he's not expected to return any time soon to the beginning of 2017 season. Or in other words, no chances at 22starts or more.
