There really isn't much of a back door way into the playoffs. Because not winning the division means we went 1-1. If that loss comes to the Vikings you are really in trouble, and if that loss comes to the Lions it's still not good. To put it simply you would need the Bucs to lose out, Redskins to lose 2/3 of their remaining games, and if we lose to the Vikings you would then need the Vikings to lose to Chicago week 17.

I mean sure I guess that could happen. However all three of those teams have pretty light schedules. I sure wouldn't bet on that happening.

Agreed.

No sense in worrying about stopping teams in the playoffs unless we actually make it. I'd imagine we probably beat the Vikings next week, but winning at Detroit is going to be a tough task. I don't see Tampa or Washington losing enough for us to get the WC so that might be our only shot.

Crowd in Detroit I'm sure will be wild, but the Lions are a tough team to get a read on - they've won so so many games that they probably shouldn't have - all those 4th quarter comebacks, some of which were like 1% chance of winning. Is their luck finally running out?

As far as yesterday goes, it's not really that surprising at this point is it? It's pretty much the exact replica of every other game McCarthy has coached with a big league. Never go for the throat. Get conservative on both sides of the ball. We seemingly rushed 4 with soft coverage the entire 4th quarter and they just ate us alive.

I think it is a little unclear who would win the head to head against Tampa. I think it is strength of victory tie breaker and it is really close. WAS would need to lose 2 and if GB wins the tie breaker against TB they would need to lose one more. Again not sure how GB vs. TB will shake out and best bet is too simply beat MN and DET to remove all doubt.

If they win the division they are probably the 4 seed which means a rematch against NYG. It would be nice to get some revenge in the playoffs against them.

I though the tie breaker with a team like Tampa (who we did not play) was record vs. similar opponents?

It is actually win/loss for conference games. Next up would be the similar opponents record. I hadn't checked it recently, but our win streak now has us with the same NFC conference record. However with that being said they have the better record vs. similar opponents(last I checked).

So it still stands to even have a shot at a wildcard we would need Tampa Bay to lose out.

So apparently as it stands today Green Bay would be in ahead of Tampa Bay based on the strength of victory tie breaker. I imagine that specific % could flip either way on the outcome of various games these last 2 weeks. If GB were to lose against DET then maybe there is still a shot at a WC; at a minimum both WAS and TB would need to lose another game. It would be anyone's guess where the final strength of victory % might end up. Tampa did not play DET or MIN and GB did not play NO or CAR so neither the common opponent tiebreaker or the conference record is going to change

Not sure you can say that for yesterday. Even with that lead they were not running it up the gut on 1st and 2nd down, and only throwing on 3rd when they have to. They were consistently passing on 1sts and taking deep shots, kind of the opposite of conservative. Honestly with that lead playing it safer on O probably would've worked better as they probably would've ran 2-3 more minutes off the clock. For D, that's really not his call. I'm all about more blitzing at all times though. But with a lead like that, if you're not bringing 5 you might as well just bring 3 and drop another guy in the middle to try and help out the crappy DBs. It's a can't win with our fans though, if you blitz and a DB gets burned for a quick long TD then everyone will bash how dumb they are for leaving crappy DBs on island. If you play conservative and they pick you apart 10 yards at a time they complain to, tough for our fans to remember the other team is trying to win as well.

I cannot for the life of me understand going for it 4th and 3 on the 22 in the 2nd quarter. That was a stupid call and the Pack was lucky to not have it come around to bite them in the end.

I cannot believe the Bears, who had nothing to play for, kicked a FG on their last possession rather than going for the likely win if they punched it in on 4th and goal from the 4. When they settled for the FG, I had a feeling we would win.

Looking ahead at our probable playoff road if we win the north, hows this potential juggernaut of exercising some playoff demons? Giants at home, at dallas and at seattle. Shudder. If we face that and win the superbowl we will have earned it more than any other team in history imo.

Despite the winning streak the Packers still seem to me like one of those teams that just manages to skid into the playoffs only because everybody else is so bad.

Just get in and see what happens. Looking at potential first round games, playing at Seattle is the only one that looks scary. Although they already beat them and the Cardinals just dismantled them in Seattle.

Every team in the NFC playoffs is beatable given the way Rodgers is playing. Pass defense and/or rush needs to step it up though.

Thankfully the spoiled Packer fans can stop whining for another week.

All it will take is a bad playoff performance and they'll be out in full force.

That's their favorite time to come out of the woodworks.

Most of them only ask for a respectable performance in a losing effort. Not an embarassing record setting performance by X player as we give up 35+ in another playoff game.

Myself, I'm elated at the past 6 weeks after what we saw before it, but the two boogeymen that have plagued us for many years are aligning this weekend.. Eli Manning and Dom Capers defense in big spot situations. NY has no business winning Sunday but until/unless they are dispatched it's going to be a pretty tense time for us fans. They're probably the worst draw in the whole NFC in my opinion for us.
