2016-2017 Green Bay Packers Thread

Peterson only does one thing well and that's run the ball. And last year he wasn't even good at that. Maybe he's got some more in the tank but he looked totally done last year.

Doesn't help when you are old and have missed 2 of the last 3 seasons due to knee injury.

And an atrocious offensive line, close to the worst in the league bad.

Oh like the Packers for running? So how does that help him?

Not nearly as bad as the Vikes last year. Of course we did let another quality guy go this offseason, so chances are worse next year.

Peterson did not need to be a Packer. Was he a great running back, of course. The Saints might get some production out of him but it won't be the AP we saw 3-4 years ago. That guy is gone. Glad we didn't go there as there are plenty of backs to grab in the draft and I like Montgomery back there anyways.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

I'm curious about the Jahri Evans signing as it relates to the 2018 free agent/ draft pick equation. Tom Silverstein reported the Evans signing wouldn't have much of an effect due to the length of the contract ( 1 year). But I thought that players over a certain age don't count at all. Evans is 34, it feels like that's pretty old. Does anyone else remember the exact age you no longer count against the compensation equation? I think it was reported that losing Julius Peppers wouldn't help due to his age.

I don't think it is due to age, but its based on contract ($$ and length) and impact to the team (pro bowls, etc..). Older players obviously have lower contracts, which is normally why they don't impact much.

Also, Peppers was not in the top 4 contracts signed away from the Packers this year and you max at 4 comp picks.
