College Basketball 2016-2017

Sorry, I just know this game is a big confidence booster to WI fans, but I know it will be a big fall coming up.

Guess what Im saying is this is the type of performance you'd hope vs. Villanova to win, and it was likely used up to beat a 9 seed

I've read some Debbie downer stuff but yours takes the cake. You must be a treat to be around when things are going well. The Badgers came out and even when some players were struggling, others stepped up and made the plays. That's what good teams do. They may lose against Nova, they may lose the game after that but my god man, enjoy a good team win and stop trying to be so "right" about your team. Pretty easy to call an 8 seed having a "big fall" coming up in March Madness.

This Wisconsin team isn't really set up to blow people out. They played incredibly well against VaTech, outside of Koenig being incredibly hot, I don't see anything that isn't repeatable. Wisconsin also tends to play to the level, I don't think they'll necessarily beat Nova, but I can't believe Nova is sitting comfortably waiting on Wisconsin. Should be a good game.

They arent confortable at all, at least they shouldn't be. You have a team full of tourney experience that has the most wins by any school in the last three years barking up your tree. On top of that, the are playing a team that resembles a team (Butler) that beat you twice. What a fun environment tomorrow is going to be!

The moment Koenig comes back to reality vs how he's been shooting 3pts. They'll be dumped hard.

He was 8 for 17. Less than 50%. He shot 50% or better from three 12 times this season. He did not shoot the lights out.

He did miss a lot, but purely by memory/eye test...he seemed to go on a run where he hit 4-5 in a row, at a rather crucial time. He's done this throughout his career, there is precedent. As upset as they should be for getting handed an 8, Villanova should be equally upset. It's like a few years ago when Kentucky had a down year, and were the 9. I believe they made quite a run. The talent was there, they were still Kentucky.

I think UW matches up pretty well with Nova. I'm expecting a good game.

Unfortunately I don't think UW matches up well with Nova. Nova has quickness and length at guard, with some long arms to get into the passing lanes. They also like to run a half-court press/trap, which UW does not do well with.

If UW can get the ball down low to Happ and Hayes they have a decent chance, but Nova does a really good job of keeping the ball from getting down low on them.

Nova shoots a ton of threes. If UW can limit their attempts and force them inside where UW has a height advantage it will help. Nice thing is UW is pretty good about limiting three point attempts so we'll see who's strength wins out. UW also gets a good share of offensive boards and Nova is just average at preventing that so UW"s bigs need to crash and get second chance points. Nova doesn't really foul much so hopefully free throws don't become an issue. I don't expect UW to win but I will be surprised if they lose by double digits.

That was not fun. Went away from shooting 3s, every dribble drive from the top of the key seemed to result in turnovers. I dunno what to say. They had guys making every midrange jumper and the misses was a free for all on Offensive rebounds. MU needs a rim protector hopefully theres someone coming in the next class.

Pretty well played game from both squads, overall. The refs blew tickey-tack fouls early and often and then swallowed whistles (or just missed calls) later on. It wasn't the best game by the stripes.

Glad to see the Badgers pull it off, though. Nice to see Bucky last for another week.

The awful free throw shooting is the difference.

Difference between a 10 point win and a three point win?

Nova was only 5 of 16 from three. Good call.

We are so spoiled. So spoiled. Just been so consistent and a total joy to watch. Any win now is just a bonus for this group of seniors. Fun times!

Stunned I tell ya! When Koenig wrongfully got his 4th foul (im clueless to his first 3 fouls occurring ) I thought the game was over. Hayes stepped up with clutch scoring. In a sense, I feel the foul trouble worked in the Badgers favor, as Hart and Nova's Bronson (sp?) Seemed gungho sloppy trying to get Happ or Koenig to foul out. Missed FTs again, but it kept the game tight and not a Nova strategy to make 3s. B2B Turnover tie-ups of Hart and the refs swallowing the whistle (clean imo both just unlike the cruddy calls earlier that would have had whistles to both) was simply amazing.

No one wants to talk about him but I will. DOWN TOWN VITTO BROWN to the rescue! Not only did he knock down some three pointers but he made the last stop and knocked down the first free throw to make it that three point spread. He's had a tough season and it was great to see him have this success in this big game. Tip of the cap!

With Nova out don't want to get too far ahead but UVA / FLA doesn't scare me one bit (as far as having a game with a good chance of being competitive), so it could be Duke standing in the way of another final four.

Happ needs to stop getting into early foul trouble at the beginning of the game. That is two games in a row now where he has barely played any minutes in the 1st half due to foul trouble. I wonder if Happ needs to be coming off the bench right now because he is getting way to many fouls in the early part of the 1st half of the game. If the Badgers advance and play Duke that is going to be a serious problem for the Badgers.
