2016 Division Series: Blue Jays vs. Rangers, Red Sox vs. Indians, Dodgers vs. Nationals, Giants vs. Cubs (Blue Jays, Indians, Dodgers, Cubs advance)

At this point I think the best match up would have to be Chicago vs. Cleveland. Battle of the Curses. For Cleveland to go however many years since their last major title & then get two in a row between the Cavs & the Tribe while keeping the Cubs curse intact is probably the best possible outcome.

That was a looooong inning. Will be curious to see if Roberts tries to ride Jansen all the way to the line.

Indeed, the longest inning I ever recall watching.

I was surprised the Nats pulled Scherzer after 99 pitches, one pitch into the 7th, which happened to be a home run but still. It really burned them.

No matter how much evidence that there is that a runner on 2nd, 1 out, actually gives you less of a chance of scoring than a runner on 1st, 0 out, managers refuse to believe it.

I thought that the numbers show that 2nd and 1 out increases the chance of 1 run scoring, but lowers the chance of any more runs scoring. Thus the Earl Weaver quote 'If you play for one run, that's all you'll get.'

Every situation is different, you cant group all these 2 situations together. If the pitcher is batting things are much different. Here is an attempt to adjust the RE24 based on the hitter, and it doesnt even let you adjust the wOBA lower than .250.

Doing that runner on 1st, 0 out with the pitcher up gives you .594 average runs per inning.

Runner on 2nd, 1 out and league average hitter up (.320 wOBA) gives you the same number.

However, the average pitcher has a wOBA closer to .100
