This is getting tougher to do, which is a good thing I suppose. It'll be interesting to see if we add more prospect talent this off-season that can permeate this top-25 group.

How does it line-up with your own gut feelings? I was surprised to see Monte and Gatewood down in the 80s.

One of the bits I'm struggling with in the calculation that generates the list is weighting production vs. potential, namely at what point do you say, OK, this guy has all the potential in the world, but he's just not getting it done. High potential/low production guys seem to tend to linger on the back end of prospect lists for longer than they should, I think because people don't want to give up on them. I'm trying to create a calculation that doesn't let players linger too long. Is the 80s way too low for Harrison? Yah, probably, but that's where I am with the formula and one thing I forbade myself to do is adjust the calculation because a guy isn't where I think (in my gut) he should be.

Down in A-ball, where I have Harrison playing (again) next year, the calculation is weighted heavily towards scouting info, so his struggles and inability to stay on the field aren't magnified a lot yet, but they count for something.

I do think pitching is a little heavily weighted, which is one of the things I'll look at before next spring.

Along those lines, some guys (Medeiros) living almost exclusively on potential seem to keep fetching high ranking, while others like Gatewood hasn't been ranked high at all by most.

I'm no huge Gatewood fan, but the guy has shown power, and at least a decent hit tool. Just seems like he's still young and is showing some potential whereas a guy like Medeiros gets shelled in the ultimate pitcher's park. I guess all this tells us is none of our ratings are a perfect science.

1. Isan Diaz-My Favorite in the system now with Arcia gone

2. Josh Hader-Ks, Ks, Ks! Think he'll translate well

3. Luis Ortiz- Well, we have him He's very good..Just hope he stays in healthy weight.

4. Marcos Diplan-Very Deserving, flying under radar for a former top rating International Pitcher. Only 20 there's still projection coming

5. Phil Bickford-Hard Thrower who I like.

6. Lewis Brinson- Like Corey Ray I'm not high on the overalls. Low tools for 5 tools.

7. Lucas Erceg-Could be best pick of entire 2016 draft.

8. Brett Phillips- Big fan still feel like he'll bounce back over take Brinson

9. Trent Clark-Lot of faith here.

10. Brandon Woodruff- Seems a popular picking. Has numbers to confirm.

11. Corey Ray-Like Brinson I just feel 5 tools but none excels ceiling-wise.

12. Monte Harrison-With that, I think he has louder tools forthcoming, Stay Healthy My Friend!

13. Gilbert Lara-I'm sad he's here. One of these years please put it together.

14. Jorge Lopez-Gotta be a bounceback in there.

15. Kodi Medeiros- Still has lots of time to amaze

16. Freddy Peralta- Like Woodruff, produces. He'd be higher if taller.

17. Jake Nottingham-Thump in a Catcher's bat

18. Cody Ponce-There's a future. Keeps up the 5ERA it'll be as a RP but a good one

19. Nate Kirby-When will his career start

20. Jake Gatewood-Someone said his bb rate dropped late in season. I remember it at 1/83 at one point turning to 18/141. That's improvement

21. Miquel Diaz-Because I had Nate Kirby here twice.

22. Ryan Cordell-Has that kind of nice depth bat to him

23. Demi Orimoloye-Wish he played more. Own Domingo Santana?

24. Jordan Yamamoto-Another popular name with numbers to back up so here he is.

25. Franly Mallen-Producing more than last year, progress

26. Trey York- Seems to produce better than most would expect

27. Chad McClanahan-Hype spot here. Let's see more

Lucas Erceg, Taylor Williams, Mario Feliciano and Gabriel Garcia are the big risers since mid-season. Erceg has as much helium as anyone in the minors right now. Williams will be a fantastic late inning guy at least. Feliciano and Garcia seemed to impress the AZL scouts while putting up numbers as 17/18 year olds. Could see Nate Kirby getting a similar bump pending his scouting reports during lead up to 2017 season. Ryan Cordell basically takes over Keon Broxton's old spot and I think they could be similarly impactful/useful big leaguers. Bumped Diplan over Ponce but both are fantastic prospects. Hell of a Lucroy trade made by Stearns.
