Tuesday's action --

Puerto Rico box: RHP Jorge Lopez is fine, and nine days after his two-inning start, he makes another (again scoreless, just not as dominant). Lopez has now allowed only three runs in 27.2 winter meetings, gorgeous.

In that same game, teammate SS Yadiel Rivera was 2-for-3 (double, BB, two R, RBI, K, E).

Aguadilla Top of the 1st

Alexis Pantoja lines out to left fielder Danny Ortiz.

Jack Lopez singles on a line drive to right fielder Benji Gonzalez.

Ruben Gotay singles on a line drive to center fielder Henry Ramos. Jack Lopez to 2nd.

Juan Centeno flies out to left fielder Danny Ortiz.

Noel Cuevas singles on a ground ball to second baseman Jesmuel Valentin. Jack Lopez to 3rd. Ruben Gotay to 2nd.

Yariel Gonzalez grounds out, shortstop Yadiel Rivera to first baseman Kennys Vargas.

Aguadilla Top of the 2nd

Jorge Jimenez strikes out swinging.

Wilfredo Rodriguez grounds out, second baseman Jesmuel Valentin to first baseman Kennys Vargas.

Ricardo Bautista called out on strikes.

***

Puerto Rico box:

Now that he's re-signed with Milwaukee, we can tell you how catcher Rene Garcia's winter has been going through 24 games (.613 OPS). Here, he was 0-for-3, but threw out both baserunners attempting to steal (36% in his long minor league career).

Plus, Daisuke Matsuzaka has randomly shown up in Puerto Rico recently, which is cool in and of itself.

***

Venezuela box:

Hernan Perez, leading off and playing third base, 1-for-4, two stolen bases (now 4-for-5 in that regard). He's batting .439 in his last ten games (1.087 OPS in that span).

***

Venezuela box:

Dueling shortstops, as Gabriel Noriega was 0-for-4 for the 5th time in six games.

At least he was sure-handed, as Orlando Arcia committed two errors, and now has five in 16 games.

Arcia was also 0-for-4, but added a walk, run, and RBI as his team won 8-5.

***

Puerto Rico: RHP Hiram Burgos celebrated his renewal with the Brewers with a quality start and win - 6 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 5 K, 3:6 GB/FO. As you'll see at the link, Burgos has carried over his August/September success into the winter with fine results after eight starts.

On the other side of the box, C Rene Garcia was 0-for-4, but did pick off a runner at second base.

NOTES: Unsure of RHP David Goforth's Venezuela status, he has only appeared once in December, back on the 9th

Although Brewers 2016 3rd round catcher Mario Feliciano only just turned 18 years old in November, he suited up for his Puerto Rico League team on Wednesday and grounded out in his sole at-bat before seeing a bit of time behind the plate.

Catcher Mario Feliciano added to Tiburones de Aguadilla roster in Puerto Rico. No. 28 on #Brewers Top 30: http://atmlb.com/1pGHONf

Not only did the Brewers 3rd round catcher just turn 18 in November, we learn that he suffered a fractured hand (we don't know which one) in late September during instructional league play, and underwent a surgery that had a recovery period of two months.

Feliciano has had only one at-bat (a groundout on 12/14).

Manager Carlos Baerga discussed this within this September 28th article, you can translate it within Google Chrome, here's a portion:

On the other hand, Feliciano, selected in the rookie draw this year by the Milwaukee Brewers, suffered a one-hand fracture Tuesday during the instructional league's work, Baerga said. This should be operated in the next few days and should be in recovery for about two months.

Box Score: CF Malik Collymore was 0-for-4 as his World Team lost to the Aussies, 2-1, on a walkoff single. He flied out, struck out, grounded out, and fanned again.

That doesn't take away from the fine winter he's having.

You'll find the full replay of the game as well as a few individual highlights including the walkoff, here.

Thursday's games --

Dominican box: Jonathan Villar, consistently playing second base thus far, homered in his first two at-bats, finishing 2-for-5 with two K's.

Apparently Villar's team really needed this game to qualify for the lengthy round-robin portion of the winter's "postseason", so he came up big in the 5-2 win.

A reminder that we're soon on the portion of the winter season (round robin / postseason) where cumulative season-long stat pages will lock in and no longer update, thus as fans, we'll just need to focus on the singular box score updates.

Villar took the very first pitch of the game deep, here's the video.

Villar took the same southpaw deep in his next at-bat.

***

Dominican box: RF Domingo Santana 0-for-4

***

Puerto Rico box: 18-year-old 2016 3rd round catcher Mario Feliciano got a start (as the designated hitter, batting 8th). He was 0-for-3 with one K.

SS Ivan Dejesus, Jr. returns to the lineup after an early exit yet again. He left early here, too, but it was a blowout win. Dejesus was 1-for-3, BB, R, two RBI.

***

Puerto Rico box: SS Yadiel Rivera 1-for-3, BB, R, RBI, one K

On the other squad, catcher Rene Garcia, batting 2nd of all places, was 0-for-2, but drew three walks.

Not to be confused with fellow youngster Mario, Jay Feliciano, was at the plate as a pinch-hitter in a huge spot in the bottom of the 9th of a 3-2 game. But he never got his chance as a teammate was inexplicably thrown out at third base to end the contest.

***

Venezuela box: Hernan Perez, again playing third base, continues his beast mode winter (.881 OPS), 3-for-4, BB, double, three RBI, and has MVP buzz on Twitter.

And has Hernan gone blonde, or optical illusion?

C0WvB-HXAAACTzl.jpg

***

Venezuela box: SS Orlando Arcia grounded out in his lone at-bat.

Arcia was pinch-hit for in the 4th for no apparent reason. His brother Oswaldo was ejected a few innings later, and even though Oswaldo was HBP just before Orlando was lifted, the ejection seems unrelated.

On another Orlando Arcia note, he's quoted in this translated article:

http://lvbp.com/img/news/big/7641.jpg

Eduardo Acosta | LVBP Press

Puerto La Cruz.- Orlando Arcia does not hide his regret at having to leave the dugout of Caribes de Anzoátegui. As in the final days of the previous season, the shortstop regretted not being able to go beyond the month of December with the ninth Aboriginal.

"It is very hard. For real. I would like to play to the finals with Caribes, but it's not my decision, it's Milwaukee and we have to obey. What remains is to keep going, enjoy the most from day to day, play by game, turn by turn and, of course, help the team as much as possible, "said Arcia.

In principle, the management of the Brewers had set as the deadline for the performance of Arcia, on December 15. A permit that was extended until the end of the tie, after the efforts of the Eastern High Command.

When the youngest of the Arcia leaves, Caribes will begin the quest for its fourth Final Series in seven years.

"We have a good group of guys who know how to play ball and who are very focused on their work. They have the talent to aspire to great things. I have no doubts about that. "I'm sure Caribes will win the championship," said Arcia, who also assured that he will not stop coming to participate in the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League, whenever he has the opportunity.

"Of course I'll keep coming. In this league one learns something new every day with both partners and coaches. That is a great reason to continue playing here. The advice you get every day is very valuable and really helps to improve, that's how great players are formed, that's why I want to keep playing here every year. "

GREAT EXPECTATIONS IN 2017

In early December, Craig Counsell, manager of the Milwaukee Brewers, said that one reason to think positively about the club's defensive balance in 2017 has to do with Arcia's emergence as a regular at short stops. With the experience gained in 2016, he could be ready to show every day his talent.

"What you have to do is get everything Spring Training, so that in Milwaukee you can see that I'm ready. I am sad to leave Caribes, but I am glad that the Brewers take care of me the way they are doing, that says of the plans they have for me next year, "said Arcia, who said he did not feel completely confident about his probable Ownership with the lupulosos, despite expectations.

"The decision is taken by them. All I have to do is win my place in the spring. Let's see what happens. What I can assure you is that I will do my best once I join the Brewers. "

***

Venezuela box: SS Gabriel Noriega 0-for-3, one K, in a game more note-worthy for the brief winter debut of King Felix, big buzz on that in his homeland

I know many still doubt Hernan Perez especially since he walks so little and is so reliant on batting average but I really think he is going to have an even better year in 2017. He won't be the named starter anywhere but should still get 400 or so at bats pretty easily with his versatility. He just never seems to stop playing baseball and that hard work will continue to make him a better major leaguer.

From our November 27th note --

Former Brewer note -- RHP Manny Barreda, who spent 2014 and 2015 mostly at the AA level in Huntsville and Biloxi, respectively, tossed a Mexican League no-hitter Saturday (box score).

Barreda twirls no-hitter

Former Yankees, Brewers prospect fans nine in 138-pitch gem

By Michael Avallone / MiLB.com

While with the Crew, Barreda was represented by agent39 (Josh Kusnick), will have to ask Josh if he is still with him. Barreda pitched in the Mexican Summer League in 2016, unaffiliated.

Doesn't sound like Josh still represents Barreda, but he's back in affiliated ball, signed by the Braves, good for him.

Monday's action --

If you are a middle infielder with a Latin American background in the Brewers' system, you are very likely playing winter ball this season. The latest to debut is 23-year-old Angel Ortega, who split 2016 evenly between High-A Brevard and AA Biloxi. He was 0-for-4, two K's, in his Puerto Rico League opener (box).

***

Puerto Rico box: SS Ivan Dejesus, Jr. 1-for-3, BB, while catcher Rene Garcia was 1-for-2, BB, R
