Just a quick note that Jemile went 3x3 with a walk and had a dinger amongst his 3 hits in this all-star game featuring some high-profiles prospects. If Weeks goes to Helena, Helena had some nice middle infield prospects....almost too many

ALBUQUERQUE, NM (June 13, 2005) ?

. The East was able to tie it up at four in the top of the third after Milwaukee Brewer draft pick Jemile Weeks homered to right-center. However, the West took the lead back for good in the bottom half of the fourth as Davis drove in another run that sparked a four-run rally. When it was all said and done, the West?s offense proved to be more dominant earning its way to an impressive 11-9 victory. Ike Davis earned the game?s PlayStation MVP Honors, finishing 3-3 with a homerun, 2 RBI, 3 Runs Scored, and the save.

?This year?s contest proved to be the most impressive yet,? noted Dana Lehner, director of the All-American Baseball Game presented by PlayStation.

The All-American Baseball Game presented by PlayStation featured three 1st Round Draft Picks of the 2005 MLB Amateur Draft including CJ Henry (17th, New York Yankees), Henry Sanchez (39th, Minnesota Twins), and Michael Bowden (47th, Boston Red Sox) led this year?s class.

I wonder if he'll go Helena or Arizona. Given the glut of middle infielders at Helena they may put him in AZ.

This is awesome news. Jemile could be the steal of the draft. He may be small now, but Rickie was the same size coming out of high school. One major difference is while Rickie played LF in high school, Jemile is already a pretty slick middle infielder. Major props to Jack Z and his staff, and props to Mark A, who is obviously ponied up alot more $$$ than the Seligs did last year.

I'd look to put him in AZ with the chance to jump to WV next year. My question is, how much did Rickie bulk up in college? If he was undrafted, he must have put a lot on in college, which means maybe his family is full of late-developers.

Great news. As pointed out, the Brewers have done a great job signing their early picks under Jack Z. I never really doubted whether or not lil' Weeks would sign. It's always good news to hear when they do sign though, so thanks for the heads up.

Obviously ponied up a lot more $$$? Again as noted, the Brewers have never been stingy when it comes to signing draft picks under Jack Z. Mark A. hasn't changed that. It will be interesting to see how much Jemile has signed for, but I don't think he received that much more than slot value. He was slotted as a top 5 round pick, so nabbing him in the 8th isn't that big of a stretch.

I do agree that he is very much like his big brother, who was also a little undersized coming out of high school. Hopefully Jemile has Rickie's work ethic as well. He and Carlos Hereaud could form an interesting infield tandem to watch as they move up. I'm guessing both, assuming Hereaud signs, will start in Arizona, as the Brewers seem to like starting their prep picks at the lower of the two rookie league affiliates.

Absolutely fabulous news to hear!

Now on to Babineau. If he gets away, I'll be disappointed to say the least. He's the catcher that we need in the system.

You're thinking of the Flying Walendas of trapeze artist legend. But maybe the Walendas have a catcher in the family, I'm not sure. But with all the pressure to be a trapeze artist, how much hope would a Catching Walenda have?

[ Brian, What's the word on this one? Signed one day, and now, he's not. Do you have any more info, or are you going to leave us all hanging? ]

Hey, I never said he was "signed". The info I received was that he decided he wanted to play for the Brewers. The details still need to be hashed out.

Quite the wordsmith, Brian. "In the fold?" Is that a laundry term only? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

You must have passed Semantics 101, but I trust you, oh fearless leader.

As noted on other threads, Jack Z. and his staff have done a very good job signing their early draft picks. Other than 2002, no top pick has gone unsigned under Zduriencik's watch. Jemile Weeks will sign before the summer is over.

Ryan Babineau on the other hand is probably the most likely of our top 20 picks to attend college. Hopefully the Brewers will do what it takes to get him in the fold.
