Hurricane sighting

The Reds announcers were really excited about this story...they said he not only admits to not being a hard worker while being in the organization, but also intimated he had serious hard-partying ways that helped to derail his career....they mentioned a few indirect quotes from Hernan indicating that he devoted himself to faith and family and considers this to be his 2nd chance at his career....he did quite well this year in AAA.

Knowing The Hurricane is 32 years old makes me feel ancient.
"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

Is this thread an inside joke?

Kind of. Hernan "The Hurricane" Iribarren was a one-time Brewer prospect who was loved on these boards. He fizzled out, and Molitor Fan's post probably explains why.

Good to see he got his life in order, and hopefully he can have a couple of good years in the majors.

"The most successful (people) know that performance over the long haul is what counts. If you can seize the day, great. But never forget that there are days yet to come."

The Hurricane. Man, that guy was awesome in the beginning. Just goes to show you that these rankings we do a few times a year, even when guys are having success, you just don't know what could happen. A look at the slash line for the hurricane:

2004 -age 20 (Split between AZ and Beloit) .422 / .470 / .637 / 1.106 - a .422 batting average in 256 AB's!

2005 - West Virginia (A Ball) .290 / .360 / .379 / .739

2006 (Brevard County A+) - - .319 / .376 / .384 / .761

2007 (Huntsville - AA) - .307 / .363 / .430 / .793

2008 He then had a down year in AAA .277 / .329 / .341 / .670

and then was just never really given a shot as the Brewers were in Win it now mode
