Official Draft Discussion Thread (Rounds 20-29)

Recommended Posts

I'll get caught up with the Brewers' picks shortly, but I wanted to mention that the Cardinals drafted Ryan Rohlinger in the 21st round. For those that are unaware, he's a West Bend East alum who also played for the Blazers and is now at the University of Oklahoma.

Congrats, Ryan!

The latest pick, round 22, is Kenneth Holmberg from Embry-Riddle University in Florida. That's the same school that Patrick Ryan, the team's 19th round pick attended. Holmberg is a second-baseman and is the son of a minor league coach (the Brewers were insistent on pointing that out).

The 23rd round brings us Brendan Katin, a teammate of Braun's at the University of Miami. He's a big (well, kinda fat) outfielder but a very good hitter. I dig him.

Great news about the Inman (sort of) signing....great job batman with all that you are doing....I know you probably get a kick out of gathering all this information, like I do, but your speed and thoroughness of collecting the info is awesome...

The latest (round 26) is Jacob Arrieta, a right-handed pitcher at Weatherford College in Texas. He was a teammate of 11th round pick and fellow RHP Brent Allar.

Also, Whitewater's Kevin Tomasiewicz was selected by the Mets in the 26th round.

From a stat perspective, I love the Taylor Green pick....in his league he batted .411 - 4th in the league....he had the best w/k ratio in his league at 18/8, had the most doubles, and show decent home run power with some Sb's thrown in the mix too.

This guy had great production, as he was the team's cleanup hitter all year for a 41-21 team....is a senior....improved his stats big-time over the last year.....West Virginia should have a new starting catcher in a couple weeks named Willcutt.

HATTIESBURG, Miss.? Southern Miss senior catcher Brad Willcutt was named Third-Team Louisville Slugger TPX All-American sponsored by Collegiate Baseball today.

The Columbus, Miss., native led Southern Miss with 16 home runs, 21 doubles, 82 RBI and 149 total bases this season, helping Southern Miss to a 41-19 season, for the school?s third consecutive 40-win season, a school record.

Willcutt and Southern Miss will compete in the school?s third-consecutive NCAA Regional this weekend, also a school record. The Golden Eagles are the No. 2 seed in Oxford and will play No. 3 seed Oklahoma at 3 p.m., on Friday. The winner of that game the winner of No. 1 seed Ole Miss and No. 4 seed Maine at 5 p.m., on Saturday.

McKnight's stats not quite as eye-popping as Taylor Green's - as they were from the same conference, and were both shortstops....

I wonder if most teams piggyback their picks as much as the Brewers do in terms of same teams, same conferences, etc.

deeswan, check the drafted player profile page for the Inman story.....towards the bottom of batman's profile
