Final: Arizona Brewers 2, Arizona Indians 0

A-Crew finishes 24-29...

Maryvale Box Score

Brewer pitchers finished in style, walking one and striking out 13. 18-year-old LHP http://Blake Lillis, the last-minute 25th round signee Milwaukee squeezed into the bonus pool, saw action in six games and posted a second consecutive strong outing here. He was followed to the mound by rehabbing Manatee RHP Kaleb Earls, undrafted RHP Jake Smith, and 28th round RHP Andrew Vernon. Kudos, gents...

Via the Gazette --

Torrential rains in Colorado Springs have caused the cancellation of Monday's series opener between the Sky Sox and the New Orleans Zephyrs. The game will not be made up as the Sky Sox and Zephyrs have been eliminated from playoff contention.

Follow Monday's action as it happens with box score / game log links:

Brevard County

The Manatees game was postponed until tomorrow. The game versus Clearwater was halted in the bottom of the 2nd inning. Phil Bickford walked the bases loaded in the 1st inning, but managed to get out of it unblemished. Bickford did give up a run in the second inning. Over the 2.0 innings pitched Bickford allowed 3 hits and 4 walks while striking out 2.

The Rattlers just ran themselves out of the inning in 8th on 3 base hits... wow, just wow.

edit. Well Erceg's out at 2nd was technically a FC, but still.

Biloxi Game 1 Boxscore

Taylor Jungmann only went 5 innings, walking 3, striking out 5, allowing 4 hits and 1 run, he threw just 50 of 89 pitches for strikes. It took 3 relievers to finish off the final 2 innings as Tayler Scott faltered in the 7th so Stephen Kohlscheen had to come on to close it out.

Johnny Davis (2-3,2B) bumped his last 10 games up to .333 after game 1.

Biloxi Game 2 Boxscore

Brandon Woodruff was fantastic picking up a complete game (7 innings) allowing 1 run while striking out 10, giving up 2 hits, and walking 3.

Nick Ramirez (2-3,HR,2B) is only hitting .209 even after putting up a .384 AVE over his last 10 games.

Bandits Break Rattlers in Tenth

Quad Cities tops Rattlers 2-1 on walkoff single with two outs

By Chris Mehring / Wisconsin Timber Rattlers

Wisconsin Boxscore

The pitching was pretty good, Quintin Torres-Costa and Miguel Sanchez bailed out Trey Supak in the 8th, but Sanchez faltered in the 10th and Carlos Belonis didn't do him any favors in RF bobbling the ball on the final play. Miguel Diaz started and had his best game some time going 4 innings, allowing 1 run, striking out 7, and no walks, I was extremely happy with his performance.

Jake Gatewood (2-3,2B,BB) would have had a 3 hit day if not for the right fielder playing extremely shallow in Quad Cities (short porch in RF) and throwing out Lucas Erceg at 2B, but then Jake and Luis Ortiz combined for the horrible play to end the inning on the bases. Belonis has been getting progressively more combative with umpires about the strike zone over the last month, it's actually getting old, I'd prefer he just keep his mouth shut and play.

Woodruff has gone from 110IP last year to currently 151IP this year. Not sure the extent of Woodruff pitching last year on top of those 110 innings of affiliated ball, but that seems like a sizable increase from last year to this year, plus it looks like he's in line for one more regular season start, and possibly one or two more post season starts?

With that increase, he should be able to be stretched out to 180-200 IP in 2017. Hoping they don't push him too much more this season.

I hear ya, but I'm much less concerned with this issue past the age of 22. The closer someone is to physical maturity, the less of an issue I believe the innings load is.
