Rattlers Top Bandits 6-3 for Fourth Straight Win

Diaz hits homer #20 to keep pressure on Burlington in playoff race

By Chris Mehring / Wisconsin Timber Rattlers

Wisconsin Boxscore

Jake Drossner has made very limited strides with his control this season, this game could have gotten out of hand but 3 double plays bailed out Drossner time and again. Jake walked 6 and only struck out 2, but also only allowed 2 hits, and thanks to the DPs allowed just the 2 runs.

Monte Harrison (2-4) had the only multi hit game for the Rattlers.

Chris mentioned during the broadcast that Burlington doesn't play until 5 PM tonight.

Methinks Aaron Meyers and Ronnie James Gideon have earned late season promotions.

Chris mentioned during the broadcast that Burlington doesn't play until 5 PM tonight.

Burlington gets rained out and will play two in Peoria on Monday, so the Timber Rattlers, who own the tiebreaker with Burlington, are now within 1/2 game.

Burlington has eight games left, Wisconsin seven. Both teams have Tuesday off.

Medeiros was pitted against Justus Sheffield today. Kodi was taken twelfth overall and Sheffield was taken 31st overall, both lefties in the 2014 draft. Michael Kopech is another out of high school who went in the thirties that year. Whether it's scouting, draft decision making, and/or player development, that is a major face palm at this point. The difference in the numbers between Sheffield and Medeiros is astounding.

Kodi has a live arm, so all we can do is hope he ever can develop command and then come close to, or even surpass his draft peers. He's got time.

Sky Sox Defeated 6-1 By Dodgers

Bullpen falters late as Sky Sox drop final game of road trip.

By Aaron Cheris / Colorado Springs Sky Sox

Damien Magnifico (0.2 IP, 3 hits, 5 runs) imploded on Sunday, ruining an excellent outing from Wei-Chung Wang (7IP, 5 hits, 1 ER, 0BB, 5K).

Final: Tampa 8, Brevard County 2

Tampa's 15 hits overwhelm Manatees

By Donald Rieber, Jr., 27 Outs Baseball

Brevard County Box Score

As pointed out in the game story this was the Manatees 15th straight loss to Tampa this season. Also mentioned was that Manager Joe Ayrault was tossed early on in the game. Have to imagine it has been a frustrating season to be the skipper in Brevard County, hopefully they can manage to win a game in the final week of the season to avoid a 100-loss season.

Corey Ray did not have any hits, but did walk twice. Also walking two times was Dustin Houle (1-for-2, 2 BB). The lone multi-hit effort was Blake Allemand (2-for-5, 2B) who also had one of the two extra base hits for the Manatees, the other being a double off the bat of Mitch Ghelfi.

Manatees pitchers were hit hard, first Kodi Medeiros lasted 2.1 innings allowing 5 hits, 4 runs (3 earned), and 3 walks. Medeiros also committed a throwing error. Devin Williams pitched the final 5.0 innings giving up 9 hits, 4 runs, 2 walks and striking out 2.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

I was a little shocked when posters were reporting Wang throwing around 90. With the Brewers he was around 93-95 (fx had him as high as 95.5). Maybe this is by design, but I'm curious if there's still velocity in the tank. He's had nice primary and secondary statistics these last two seasons. He's worth giving a look
