And Burgos made the most of it. I suspect that Round Rock has a few free swingers on the team.

Much needed start by Lopez as well. Perrin keeps on rolling, and another nice outing for Harber. Harber has had quite a good season - 11.5 K/9, walks a little high but still a decent 3.75 K/9.

Harber a 16th round pick, Perrin a 27th round pick, Woodruff an 11th round pick - helps make up a little for the lack of first round draft pick success.

Pitching Powers Sky Sox To 2-0 Win

Four pitchers combined for shutout.

By Aaron Cheris / Colorado Springs Sky Sox

Colorado Springs Boxscore

Hiram Burgos - with the help of three relievers - shut out the Round Rock Express Saturday night. Burgos went six innings and gave up no runs on two hits. He walked only one batter and struck out 11. Damien Magnifico finished the game to record his 18th save.

The Sky Sox managed just six hits, but were able to plate a pair of runs on a single by Garrett Cooper in the 4th.

New catcher Michael McKerny walked on all three of his plate appearances.

Cooper has played 33 games in left field this season, likely to increase his versatility. Until his recent trial in the outfield, he’s been almost strictly a first baseman in his professional career.

Andy Wilkins grounds out softly, pitcher Yohander Mendez to first baseman Joey Gallo. Garrett Cooper to 2nd.

Josmil Pinto pops out to shortstop Hanser Alberto.

Corey Ray led off the game with a double and went on to score the Manatees only run. Two more hits including a double for Mitch Ghelfi who continues to provide one of the bright spots during the current losing streak. Ghelfi is now batting .340 over the past twelve games. In all the Manatees offense managed just 4 hits and were 1-for-10 with runners in scoring position.

Facing a strong Tampa lineup Jon Perrin with another solid outing going 7.0 innings and giving up just 1 run on 7 hits, 1 walk, and 5 strikeouts. In 2.0 innings of relief Freddy Peralta recorded 2 strikeouts while giving up 2 hits, 0 walks, and 1 run which proved to be the difference.

Rattlers Edge Beloit 3-2

Erceg homers; Griep Saves; Wisconsin picks up ground in playoff race

Conor Harber pitched four scoreless, hitless innings and picked up the win for the Timber Rattlers on Saturday night. (Wisconsin Timber Rattlers/Ann Mollica)

Wisconsin Boxscore

I'm still struggling to understand where all of Lucas Erceg's power comes from, both his in his arm and his bat. He turned on a pitch up in the zone for the 3R HR, it was long gone, so even though the wind was gusting to right it wasn't wind aided. He made a couple of very nice defensive plays, one barehanded, during the contest. The funny thing is that apparently between innings a ball got away from him and he either pegged Fang or just missed him, I caught the tail end of the TV guys talking about it and I instantly thought of

. Hopefully he figures out his arm because the physical tools he projects are impressive.

In other happenings everyone who came out of the pen was fantastic as the Rattler pitchers combined to strike out 13 while walking just 1. As noted in the caption Conor Harber was fantastic in the middle of the game and I find Nate Griep to be hilarious, the dude makes me laugh out loud every time he does an interview, what a character he is. Quintin Torres-Costa hasn't given up a run in 10 appearances and is closing in on an ERA under 4.

With just 5 hits there wasn't much to talk offensively so I thought I would mention that T-Rats President Rob Zerjav was in the booth talking about the Rattlers buying into the Northwoods League team in Fond Du Lac and then an extended discussion about how everyone involved with the Rattlers thinks that they have far and away the best talent in the MWL. Pitching wise that's debatable, and I won't get into that here, but position player wise there's no doubt. This team just hasn't come close to fulfilling it's potential this season, if they get into the post season they could win it all or get swept in the first series, the performances have just been so sporadic it's difficult to quantify their chances with any certainty.

Offense explodes in 7-1 win over BayBears to clinch series

Jorge Lopez earned his first win since May 20 on Saturday night

Bilxoi Boxscore

Jorge Lopez! I'm sure this start will move people towards jumping back on his bandwagon but regardless he really needed it. Josh Uhen had a nice debut, I found his promotion curious but have no complaint with the initial result.

The offense was awesome, every position player recorded a hit and most had multiple hits, though amazingly with 15 hits Clint Coulter recorded a double for the only XBH.

The Shuckers are now 1 game over .500.

In a game that will be completed at the White Sox facility on Sunday, the Maryvale Brewers trail 3-0 after two innings plus, with Tommy John rehabber Victor Diaz getting touched for seven hits in 2.2 innings, and A-Crew batters going 0-for-6 in the early going.

Tyrone Perry playing first base, technically from a paper standpoint, MiLB.com lists him on a rehab assignment from Brevard County, but basically he's back from a near season-long DL absence (hamate).

Final: Great Falls, 2, Helena 0

Oh, by the way, Helena got no-hit Saturday night...

Trio of Voyagers No-Hit Brewers on Saturday

By Craig Durham / Helena Brewers

GREAT FALLS, MT - The Great Falls Voyagers became the first Pioneer League team in 2016 to throw a no-hitter as they defeated the Helena Brewers 2-0 on Saturday night at Centene Stadium.

Voyagers starter Yosmer Solarzano went seven, allowing just one walk and hitting a batter as he struck out eight. The 19-year-old right-hander becomes the first pitcher in the Pioneer League to six wins on the season.

Adam Panayotovich walked one in the eighth, and Jaider Rocha walked one in the ninth, but neither allowed a hit.

The loss was the Brewers fourth in a row, and the team has failed to score more than two runs in a game since last Monday night when they topped Grand Junction 12-5.

The no-hitter for Great Falls overshadowed a trio of tremendous pitching performances from the Brewers' Cameron Roegner, Shawn Clowers and Scott Serigstad.

Roegner and Clowers each allowed a single run, while Serigstad finished the game with three shutout innings. Serigstad allowed just one hit, Roegner and Clowers each allowed two.

The Voyagers scored the game's first run in the bottom of the first on an Aaron Schnurbusch ground out. They doubled their lead in the top of the fifth when Corey Zangari led off with a home run.

The series of eight straight games between these two teams shifts to Helena on Sunday for a matinee. Rodrigo Benoit will be on the mound for the Brewers opposite Alec Hansen for the Voyagers.
