Corey Ray with his 2nd home run of the year.
"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

Anyone seen Yamamoto pitch? He has good secondary numbers (K/IP and K/BB).

Final: Dunedin 4, Brevard County 2

Dunedin rallies late to beat Manatees

By Donald Rieber, Jr., 27 Outs Baseball

***

Brevard County Box Score

Three of the five Manatees hits went for extra bases. That included a couple of long balls as both Corey Ray (1-for-3, HR, BB, SO, SB, CS) and Wendell Rijo (1-for-3, HR, SO) had solo home runs. For Rijo it was his first home run as a member of the Manatees and provided a boost to his sub-.200 slugging percentage. Brevard County had runners in scoring position just twice and they were 0-2 in those opportunities.

Brevard County Game Log

Another strong outing for Cody Ponce as he lasted 6.0 innings allowing 5 hits, 1 earned runs, 1 walk, and 3 strike outs.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

Neither game story for the teams I cover has popped yet, I'm going to bed and will catch them on the flip side.

Final: Arizona White Sox 4, Arizona Brewers 3, 11 innings

Maryvale Box Score

Game saw all seven runs score in seven single-run half-innings.

A-Crew managed only six singles and a walk while fanning 12 times. CF Monte Harrison was 0-for-4 (also an HBP, which he must have appreciated - not) as he begins his hamate bone rehab.

Second baseman Trey York made his pro debut in the Maryvale opener June 20th, and was 0-for-4. Check out his game log since. No, really, check it out, as York reached base via hit or walk in all 36 games since the opener. York was 0-for-5, reaching on an error Thursday, just ending a super-impressive streak.

Three scoreless innings with no walks for 18-year-old for Adam Lind trade RHP Carlos Herrera, hopefully the training staff has added some beef to his listed 6'2", 150 pound frame this summer.

Maryvale Game Log

Walk-off loss...

I mean, there are no walk-off wins, right, those guys are hopping off, dancing off, etc. It's only the losing squad that actually walks off.

AZL White Sox Bottom of the 10th

Pitching Change: Andrew Vernon replaces Carlos Herrera.

Franklin Reyes grounds out, shortstop Ignacio Otano to first baseman Chad McClanahan.

Felix Mercedes singles on a soft ground ball to third baseman Gabriel Garcia.

Louis Silverio doubles (4) on a line drive to left fielder Zach Clark. Felix Mercedes scores.

***

Weather: 98 degrees, clear.

Wind: 5 mph, Varies.

Heck, we'll top that in the Northeast here today, and believe me, it ain't no dry heat.

Nottingham's big night leads to Shuckers 4-3 win in 11 innings

Shuckers take series opener over Generals in Jackson

Biloxi Shuckers

http://www.milb.com/assets/images/6/0/6/195107606/cuts/2Q5A0001_0wdtp2mj_0anhitt9.JPG

Jacob Nottingham was 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles and game winning on RBI on Thursday night. (Michael Krebs)

Biloxi Boxscore

Luis Ortiz was just okay in this one, nothing special statistically, bordering the poor side with the walks and hits. Stephen Kohlscheen has hit a bit of a cold streak here at the end of the season, but Tristan Archer picked up the team.

Jacob Nottingham (3-6,2 2B) posted his 2nd consecutive multi hit game, it would be exceedingly awesome if both he and Brett Phillips would finish the season strong.

Beloit Beats Rattlers 4-3 in 13 Innings

Erceg's Ninth Inning Homer Forces Extra Innings

By Chris Mehring / Wisconsin Timber Rattlers

Wisconsin Boxscore

I got home from the Brewer game just in time to follow extra innings and piss me off... I'm about done with David Lucroy. As I've said previously he has legitimate professional stuff but he gives up runs literally every other appearance. Someone asked about Jordan Yamamoto, he pitches low 90s with a very straight FB and decent off speed, he gets into trouble when he leaves the ball up like any pitcher, but most pitchers don't utilize an arrow straight FB. He's going to need to locate like a Marcum at his peak to have success. Nate Griep and Scott Grist had nice outings after struggling over the weekend.

Just 6 hits in 13 innings so Max McDowell had the only multi hit game. The game story will cover the rest.
