Norris is having a bad year and still has 12 HR with more than 50 games left playing for SD. He's a 20-25 HR guy playing half his games in Miller Park and he's still just 27. Nothing against Pina and Pinto, but Pina's 29 and Pinto is same age as Norris, and neither has established themselves as major league catchers.

If we can get him on the cheap, I have no problem picking up Norris. It seems like there's always trade talk/interest around him, so if he can have a nice year and a half in Miller Park, he might be a nice chip to flip for more in a year/year and a half. As an added bonus, if we can grab him before a Lucroy deal goes down, that would limit Texas' options today and may help force their hand.

True, but maybe a Lucroy trade should be that opportunity for them to establish themselves. They also don't cost anything to acquire

Susac pretty much took care of this concern. Surprised Norris wasn't moved. Atlanta Waivers trade I foresee

Norris isn't a bounceback candidate. He's never hit righties in his entire career and I doubt he'll learn to now. He's Yuniesky Betancourt bad against RHP and unfortunately that makes up 2/3 to 3/4 of the pitchers that he'll face. One organization knew that and positioned him as such to mostly face lefties, then sold high. The other organization did not realize this and continues to play him against righties, where he is an automatic out.

 

All of that said, he's supposedly a good defender...so if they had gone for him as a stopgap and all it cost was the $...sure? Doesn't really matter anymore, though.
