DSL Yankees2 6, DSL Brewers 4

Box Score

Both teams scored 3 runs in the 1st inning but the Brewers could only manage one more and that one a gift. The Brewers were held to 4 hits in this game. Edwin Sano was 1-3 with 2 walks. That's about all worth mentioning. Joaquin De La Cruz took the loss going 5 2/3 innings (9 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 3 BB, 3 K). He was followed by 3 other pitchers.

Game Log (not for the squeamish).

Rattlers drop 1-0 decision in Peoria

By Chris Mehring / Wisconsin Timber Rattlers

Wisconsin Boxscore

Awesomely effective pitching for the Rattlers wasn't enough.

Troy Stokes (2-4,2B) continues his upward swing and was joined by Lucas Erceg (2-4,2B) putting up multi hit efforts for the Rattlers. The Wisconsin offense had base runners most of the game but didn't collect more than 1 hit in any particular inning and didn't record a single walk, so they weren't able to push any runs across.

Cards' opposing starting pitcher Dailyn Martinez has some skill, but hasn't exactly dominated with Peoria this season.

5'3" Jose Gomez just hit a HR for the Baby Brewers. He had an ISO of .011 going into the game.

The Baby Brewers also tagged Brady Aiken pretty good, 5 runs in 2/3 of an inning. Gabe Garcia (at first base today) with yet another XBH.

Edit: Make that 2 XBH for Garcia, a double and a long ball. Only 8 of his 20 hits on the season have been singles.

Final: Oklahoma City Dodgers 8, Colorado Springs 4

Sky Sox Defeated 8-4 By Dodgers

By Aaron Cheris / Colorado Springs Sky Sox

Colorado Springs Box Score

Colorado Springs fell to the Oklahoma City Dodgers 8-4 Saturday night. The Sky Sox were undone by three errors, three wild pitches and four walks - not to mention nine hits. In a disastrous second inning, the Sky Sox walked two batters, threw two wild pitches had an error and gave up two hits. The highlight of the evening for Colorado Springs was a three run HR by SS Orlando Arcia in the third. It was Arcia’s eight HR of the season, tying his career high (set last year at Biloxi). Hiram Burgos struggled in the lose, his eighth of the year. Yadiel Rivera had two of the Sky Sox’s errors.

Dodger prospect Jose De Leon held the Sky Sox to three hits over seven innings, walking only two and striking out one.

Colorado Springs Game Log

Garrett Cooper, who went 0-4 tonight, has struggled since his call up to AAA, hitting .105 since his promotion.

Final: Charlotte 6, Brevard County 4

Coulter celebrates birthday with three RBI night

By Donald Rieber, Jr., 27 Outs Baseball

Make sure to check out the linked article for an excellent recap of the game. Oh, how differently things could have worked out if a couple of the early breaks (namely better defense) would have gone the Manatees way.

Also included in the game article are some quality photos of the Manatees wearing their Star Wars night uniforms.

Brevard County Box Score

Charlotte attempted 7 stolen bases off of the Kodi Medeiros and Fidel Pena battery. They successfully swiped bags on 5 of those 7 attempts. Medeiros encountered some trouble in the first couple of innings as well as a little tough luck with defensive miscues, but was able to finish strong over the final 3 scoreless frames of his 5.0 inning outing.

Clint Coulter was the story offensively for the Manatees going 2-for-3 with a pair of triples.

Brevard County Game Log

It's the bottom of the 9th and were only down two runs, let's get those rally caps on gentleman!

Brevard County Bottom of the 9th

  • Corey Ray strikes out swinging.
    Blake Allemand strikes out swinging.
    George Iskenderian strikes out swinging.

--OUCH--

With the trade deadline approaching (now just 36 hours away) it would appear that this Manatees roster may experience a talent infusion in the very near future. Francisco Mejia will likely be expected to bring his 42 game hitting streak to the not-so-hitter-friendly confines of the Florida State League.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

Ninth inning comeback falls short in loss to BayBears

Jorge Lopez strikes out five and walks five over five innings in MGM Park return

Biloxi Shuckers

Biloxi Boxscore

Unfortunately Jorge Lopez' first start since the demotion was nothing to write home about it, maybe he can slowly turn it around and find some success the same way Jungmann has since his return from AZ.

With the help of the 9th inning barrage the Shuckers actually broke the double digit hit barrier, the highest batting average it today's starting line-up was just .244... With the Garrett Cooper promotion it's pretty bleak from an offensive prospective which is a shame given the actual prospect talent on this club.

BayBears slip past Shuckers

by Doug Barber, Special to the Biloxi Sun-Herald

PHOTOS: Tim Isbell has an extensive Biloxi gallery at the link

“It never feels good when you lose but it always is good to be competitive,’’ Biloxi manager Mike Guerrero said. “We were able to put together three runs out there. We need to stay competitive. The last six games have all been one-run games.

“There is a lot of good things and there are some things to work on (for Jorge Lopez). We know what he is capable and we want to turn him around.’’

Final: Missoula 21, Helena 12

H-Crew missed two extra points...

Osprey Outslug Brewers 21-12

Teams Combine for 36 Hits & Eight Errors

By Craig Durham / Helena Brewers

MISSOULA, MT - The Helena Brewers led 5-0 after an inning and a half. They finished the game with 12 runs on 10 hits. They lost by nine.

The Missoula Osprey put together two separate eight run innings, and downed the Helena Brewers 21-12 in front of 1,494 on Saturday Night at Allegiance Field.

Trailing 11-5 after four, the Brewers responded with a six-run 5th inning to tie the game at 11. The highlight of the inning was a Wes Wilson three run home run, his second of the season. Wilson finished the game 2-for-5 with four RBIs.

The Osprey scored a run in the 6th to reclaim the lead at 12-11, but Ronnie Gideon's second home run of the night tied it up at 12 with one out in the top of the 7th. Gideon's blast to straight away center field was his seventh of the season - and fourth against the Osprey - but would prove to be the last bit of good news for the Brewers.

Missoula scored eight in the bottom of the 7th off Rodrigo Benoit to hand him his first loss of the season.

The three game series will conclude on Sunday, with the first pitch of the rubber match set for 5:15pm. Nattino Diplan will be making his first start since rejoining the Brewers opposite Chester Pimentel for the Osprey.

Helena Box Score

Brewer pitchers allowed 30 men to reach base via 26 hits (including six doubles and two home runs), three walks, and an HBP. Mix in five errors behind the arms...

Never good when you see these lines in the box --

Fortuno pitched to 6 batters in the 3rd.

Romero pitched to 4 batters in the 5th.

Helena Game Log

Obviously, the bats did some nice things, including the four home runs.

Final: Arizona Brewers 9, Arizona Indians 3

Brewers & Indians, gee, they're not in the news this AM, are they?

Maryvale Box Score

Just a really pretty box score - RHP Carlos Herrera pitched six strong; the youngest bats had fine nights - catcher Mario Feliciano, 1B Gabriel Garcia, 3B Chad McClanahan - honestly, this is one of those box scores that you can point to in 4-5 years and hopefully pull it from your memory bank. It's why the biggest Link Report fans enjoy the players' journeys all the way from rookie ball origins...

Maryvale Game Log

No confirmation by numbers that I have time to look up this AM, but isn't this one of the better defensive Maryvale clubs we've seen? Sloppy games few and far between, rare for this level...
