Lucroy Trades/Proposals (part 4)

Who's going to be the next #1 trade piece in a Deadline deal for Milwaukee in the next 4 years?

Hopefully Braun. It's not a given but if he stays healthy and productive for 2 more years, his contract might look a lot better to contenders then, with 2020 that much closer and his injuries far in the rear view mirror.

Mets "have enough" to get a Lucroy deal done, industry source says. But there is skepticism that D'Arnaud + prospect would satisfy Brewers.

If the Brewers won't accept the deal, how is that the Mets have "enough" to get a deal done?

"The mets have enough but the brewers dont seem to want to take our overvalued garbage"

Remember what Yoda said:

"Cubs lead to Cardinals. Cardinals lead to dislike. Dislike leads to hate. Hate leads to constipation."

Should probably just give them Smith, Jeffress, and Thornburg at that point. Throw in Arcia?

You'd think I'd be above engaging this article's author on Twitter, but apparently I'm not. He's really, really convinced TDA is fair compensation for Lucroy because "He's been a Top 100 prospect 5 different seasons."

The Brewers could get creative with a trade involving the Mets and the Indians but the Indians would have to want TDA to make it work.

Just spitballing an idea:

Brewers send Lucroy & Jeffress to the Mets for TDA, Rosario and Smith.

Brewers then send TDA and Smith to the Indians for Mejia, Sheffield and McKenzie.

Just make it a 3 team trade then

But that sounds like too much for the Indians to give up for a oft injured player with a year of success at best

Saw on twitter that Sandy Alderson said a prominent recent rumor - likely the one involving Lucroy - was "dead on arrival."

Crappy offer aside, that's two seasons in a row where Alderson has publicly made comments regarding deals with Milwaukee that seem to paint a "hey, we tried but the other guys are unrealistic."

The comments section on mlbtr for the luc for tda article was quite funny. A bunch of Mets fans saying how they should trade Flores for luc because of the almost trade last year....never mind we already have a better ss than Flores that we got for nothing this last off-season and how luc wouldn't be worth wheeler.

Stearns probably does have his asking price too high currently because it's Monday and even if he's dead set on dealing Lucroy he doesn't have to do it until Sunday. It would suck to "settle" for something now and find out a team like Texas would have increased their offer. Stearns' asking price very well could come down later in the week and still net an excellent return for Lucroy. It's all a game of chicken right now. Based on the Chapman trade it looks like the Cubs blinked early, doesn't appear that will happen with the Brewers and the Indians.

Not sure if this has already been posted. Cleveland writer thinks the Indian's untouchables are OF-Clint Frazier and LHP-Justus Sheffield. OF-Bradley Zimmer may or may not be an untouchable.

Even if all three of these players are removed I think there is enough quality here to make a deal.

If I was Stearns I'd throw in a reliever and then demand the following:

1. C-Francisco Mejia

2. One of the following : 1B-Bobby Bradley, RHP-Brady Aiken, RHP-Mike Clevinger (I'd prefer Clevinger)

3. RHP-Triston McKenzie

4. LHP-Rob Kaminsky OR LHP-Juan Hillman (I'd prefer Kaminsky)

Personally I'd rather have one of those two outfielders and only do a deal with three higher quality pieces coming back rather than four...but I'd still be pretty happy with the above scenario. Indian's keep their untouchables, get a premier player...Brewers get back two legitimate top 100 players plus a pitcher in McKenzie with huge upside plus a fourth piece that is a very, very legitimate prospect (how often is the fourth piece as good as this fourth piece would be??).
