Lucroy Trades/Proposals (part 4)

Red Sox have said Moncada, Benintendi, Devers and Kopech are off-limits.

Yeah I know, but the thing is we are dealing with Dombrowski, and in order to contend with other teams for Lucroy at least one of those would be coming to us. So if we take what was reported as true (that they are off limits), then we can cross Boston off the list of suitors.

Where did you hear that? I have little doubt Moncada is untouchable, but I never heard that the rest are, especially when they just dealt Espinoza who would be at the high end of that group.

If so, that's too much top talent off the table for them to be serious contenders for Lucroy.

I read it somewhere... Just don't remember.

Zimmer, Perez, Sheffield, Mathias, Kaminsky for Lucroy and Thornburg. This should be close to a good deal for both sides. Indians may need to add a reliever prospect.

Don't think the Brewers ask for a catcher back to replace Lucroy's spot on the roster, so I would scratch Perez from that proposal. They have Pina at AAA if Lucroy is traded.

Replace Perez with Mejia, Sheffield with McKenzie, and Mathias with Hillman, and that's pretty close for Lucroy and Thornburg. Maybe add a few lottery tickets like Felix Tati and Jorma Rodriguez.

Peter Gammons reported on his blog Wednesday that the Red Sox have informed other teams that they will “not discuss” four of their top prospects in potential trade offers: second baseman Yoan Moncada, outfielder Andrew Benintendi, third baseman Rafael Devers, and pitcher Michael Kopech.

Deal isn't gonna happen with Boston.

I really hope Lucroy is traded before tomorrow night. I have to go out of town this weekend and won't be able to properly vet the prospects until Monday. :)

I always find these "leaked" quotes interesting.

I somehow think if the Angels offered Trout the Red Sox would discuss those 4.

This. Although I'd rather part with Smith than Thornburg.

That's called Negotiating 101, probably taught first day of GM class. I never believe any of that stuff. Yea, we all know a team doesn't want to give up their top prospect. But for the right deal anyone is available.

Correct. The lingo is "untouchable" but that's never taken literally

From Cleveland, I'd want McKenzie as much as anyone else they have. I'd be disappointed if Lucroy went to Cleveland and McKenzie wasn't part of the package.

I agree wholeheartedly.

Gimme McKenzie and one of the outfielders and I'm good. Don't need anything else.

Espinosa was untouchable two weeks ago. Now he's in SD.

It's all posturing. I'm sure there really are untouchables in most systems, but it's all about leveraging your assets. If they are 'untouchable' and then you are willing to offer them, it's like the team is making some grand concession. All smoke to improve your position.

This narrative that Arcia is struggling is just plain wrong. The defense is outstanding, the XBH's are piling up, and the walks are steady. He is very young for AAA.

Enough with that junk. The guy is an outstanding prospect.

He's probably become just a bit complacent. He's obviously read his own press reports, and feels like his time has come. If this were the case it is a bit of an issue, as he still needs to show up every day and outperform at every level, whether or not you feel like you deserve a call up.

A guy that I am more worried about is Phillips. He is repeating AA after 250 AB last year, and the power has returned but he is looking like a platoon player eventually according to some scouts. He seems to lose a tick in production each step up the ladder, which isnt uncommon, and he is still above league average, but for a guy you plan on being your future All Star CF with a big bat, a 113 wRC+ isnt what you want out of a guy with his background.

I doubt the Red Sox would trade Moncada but Dombrowski being who he is, it is not out of the question (and I myself mentioned the Red Sox swopping in as a possibility/hope yesterday).

Question is: Would you do a Lucroy for Moncada straight up trade if it came to that? I would try to add a couple Rookie level arms also but really not sure how hard I would push that.

If the Brewers are saying this I feel like last nights game was Lucroy's last he plays as a Brewer. We may even see a mid-game farewell today.

Mentioned earlier, but he's in a month long slump and statistically speaking, it shows. Maybe he made an adjustment and it's not working or just not 100% right for now.

.259 .344 .478 on June 25th

.225 .320 .410 as of today. Which is the lowest his OPS has been since game 1 of the season.

MLB Radio just said that Milwaukee is telling teams interested in Lucroy that they have a "significant" piece on the table.....

I don't understand what this means? Are they saying that Lucroy is the "significant piece" and teams better pony up, or are they saying that another team has made them a "significant offer" and you better put your best offer on the table right now or else you'll get left out?

The latter.

Or maybe "significant piece on the table" means that Stearns just bought a Desert Eagle .50 Cal and he literally has it on his table, and is cleaning it or something.

That made me laugh out loud.

"Significant piece" really makes it sound like a single previously untouchable player, has been offered. As someone said earlier, to me that means a top 10-15 prospect has been offered (alone or in a package). Of the teams rumored to be interested that have a top 15 player that would mean:

Bregman (1)- Astros

Moncada (2) - Red Sox

Swanson (5) - Braves

Benintendi (7) - Red Sox

Gallo (15) - Rangers

It also could mean these but definitely would be part of a package:

Rosario (18) - Mets

Frazier (24) - Indians

Deevers (25) - Red Sox again!

We can rule out those first 4 prospects. not happening..

Gallo has a very little shot too but it could maybe happen

Agreed... We're not getting a Top 10-15 MLB prospect for Lucroy.
