MiLB.com feature -- organizational scoreboard, Brewers

It's a shortcut intro tonight, folks; you can refer to a Daily Menu from when all the affiliates played (last Saturday), if you need help finding audio or MiLB.TV or such, but I imagine you can find that info easily enough if interested.

Thanks!

17:10 BB:K for Joantgel Segovia in 2016. Definite a good candidate to explode over second half of short season.

11:7 for Weston Wilson too. Lots of draftees off to exceptional starts.

Final: Tampa 9, Brevard County 1

Manatees fall to Tampa in series opener

By Donald Rieber, Jr., 27 Outs Baseball

Brevard County Box Score

The first game following the loss of Dustin DeMuth to a promotion was a forgettable one for the Manatees. The most only notable offense was Clint Coulter's solo home run. No Brevard County player had multiple hits and outside of Coulter's hit there weren't any extra base hits. Corey Ray continued his recent struggles going 0-for-4. Ray also had a pair of strike outs and now has 5 K's over the past 2 games.

Defensively the Manatees committed 4 errors, 2 fielding and 2 throwing.

Brevard County Game Log

As noted earlier Cody Ponce didn't have it tonight. The 4th inning started with 3 doubles and a wild pitch.

Recently acquired Yankees infield prospect Gleyber Torres was held hitless (0-for-5) in the game.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

Shuckers post second straight shutout in 2-0 win over BayBears

Dustin DeMuth singles in game winning run as Angel Ventura earns first win

Biloxi Shuckers

Biloxi Boxscore

Angel Ventura might have turned his first corner in AA, what an impressive performance, the only thing missing was 6+ innings pitched, but it appears he's still on a 85 pitch count limit. In a year when the posters have been largely bemoaning our high profile pitching prospects besides Hader here's a young man that didn't even get a full A+ season under his belt before getting bumped up to AA. Somehow Angel continues to fly under the radar... Regardless 4 relievers behind Ventura combined to pitch quite awesome allowing just 1 walk and no hits while striking out 4 over the final 3.2 innings.

The Shuckers managed just 5 hits, but scored 2 runs because 3 of those hits followed a lead off walk in the 4th. This offense has been incredibly depressing in July after the Tyrone Taylor hit parade ended. I've always believed hitting was contagious both ways, good and bad, and this Biloxi team seems to be giving credence to that theory.

Biloxi Recap

So using the word "credence" got me thinking about CCR while I was waiting on the game story, which is one of my favorite all time bands, even though they were done playing before my time. So here's one my favorites that applies to MiLB in a round about way:

Final: Arizona Cubs 6, Arizona Brewers 4

This was the first game of the second half of the AZL season; the A-Crew was 12-16, eight games behind the AZL Indians, in the first half.

Maryvale Box Score

After four good July outings, 22-year-old RHP Nattino Diplan had a bit of a clunker here, he was the 2nd of five Brewer pitchers to see action on this night.

This was the second time 11th round 18-year-old Chad McClanahan, the second most expensive Brewer draft signing, played first base instead of third. He committed two errors on this night, but also had two base hits, including a double. Gabriel Garcia played third base, double and walk at the plate (1.189 OPS).

Final, Game One: Helena 8, Ogden 4

Game Two: Helena 5, Ogden 0, suspended after one inning, rain

Brewers win Game One 8-4, Game Two Suspended

Helena Brewers

HELENA, MT - The Helena Brewers and Ogden Raptors were supposed to play 14 innings on Tuesday night in Helena. They got in 8 ½.

The Brewers took game one of the scheduled doubleheader by a final score of 8-4. The Brewers have a 5-0 lead in the top of the 2nd of game two, which will resume on Wednesday at 5:05 PM (6:05 Central). Following the conclusion of that game the Brewers and Raptors will wrap up this wet series with another 7-inning game to end the first half of the season.

GAME ONE, Brewers Win 8-4

The Brewers offense came to play on Tuesday afternoon, scoring eight runs in the first four innings en route to an 8-4 victory in game one of the scheduled doubleheader with the Ogden Raptors.

Wes Wilson got Helena on the board in the bottom of the 1st with a one-out double to score Ryan Aguilar and tie the game 1-1.

From there the Brewers kept on hitting. Joantgel Segovia drove in two in the 2nd with a double, and he came home two batters later on a Demi Orimoloye single to put the Brewers ahead 4-2.

Ronnie Gideon's fourth home run of the season increased the Helena lead to 5-2 in the 3rd, and the Brewers added three more in 4th. Six different Brewers finished with at least one RBI. Segovia led the way going 3-for-3 with two driven in.

Gentry Fortuno (3-3) earned his 3rd victory of the season, allowing two runs on two hits and a walk in three innings of work. Colton Cross slammed the door shut in the 7th, striking out a pair and lowering his ERA to 2.03.

In Game 2, a five-run, seven-hit first inning vaulted the Brewers, who saw Wilson hit an RBI triple and Cooper Hummel rope a two-RBI double.

The Brewers improved to 10-7 at home.

Second half schedule starts Friday by the way; the three Brewer pitchers only walked one combined; Gilbert Lara has not played since leaving the game early on the 23rd (after a 5th inning strikeout that day); ten hits, three for extra bases (including the Gideon home run), and six walks for the H-Crew offense; mix in clean defense (just one passed ball), and a very solid evening here...
